TAIPEI, TAIWAN (BNO NEWS) -- A senior Taiwanese military officer was arrested on Sunday on charges of passing classified information to China, Taiwan's Ministry of Defense said on Tuesday.

The official, identified by Taiwanese media as Lo Chi-cheng, worked at the Intelligence Department of the Taiwanese Ministry of Defense and will be detained until the inquiry against him is completed, said the Supreme Military Court.

According to military prosecutors, Lo had worked with a Taiwanese businessman with investments in China, called Lo Pin, to collect military intelligence for China.

According to local media reports, Lo Chi-cheng and Lo Pin were double agents working for China and Taiwan. Both were arrested when they met in Taipei to exchange money and a flash disk containing military secrets.

Investigators also raided their houses, and found data related to the case, including bank account information used for wire transfers.
