suegha Posted August 4, 2005 Posted August 4, 2005 Hello all, I mean what do the words 'Plai Laem' mean? If indeed they have a meaning! Thanks ps should this be in the Thai Language section?
mike_l Posted August 4, 2005 Posted August 4, 2005 I reckon something like the 'tip of the cape'. ปลาย 'plai' - end , tip , point แหลม 'laem' - cape, penisula ps should this be in the Thai Language section? Probably!
Boo Posted August 4, 2005 Posted August 4, 2005 in terms of Baan Plai Laem near bohput beach??? well, it's at a tip of the island so mikes explaination above would make sense.
suegha Posted August 6, 2005 Author Posted August 6, 2005 'End of the peninsula' or 'head of the cape' or something like that... The first one sounds European and the second sounds more exotic - 'Head of the cape' it is then... Thanks
sbk Posted August 7, 2005 Posted August 7, 2005 "Point" is, I believe, the technical term you are looking for
suegha Posted August 17, 2005 Author Posted August 17, 2005 Forgive me for sounding a bit dim! But is that 'point of the cape' or point of the peninsula? Or does it not matter???
sbk Posted August 18, 2005 Posted August 18, 2005 a point sticks out, hence the term "point" . In the US a very famous point is Point Lobos which is a small piece of land jutting out from the tip of the bay. Don't think it makes any difference as all are jutting out.
