Visitors Visa

Hi All

I have been putting together a portfolio for my Girlfriends return visit to the UK and I am having trouble finding the Guidance notes that go with the general Visitor (VAF1A) and the section regarding the information needed for the sponsor.

The last time I Sponsored my girlfriend, I had to show proof of my Finance, Bank details, Pay slips etc, this time I am unable to find anything that says I must submit the information!!!

Am I looking in the correct place? Or have things changed since last year.

On the First question!!! It asks, are you a Tourist or Visiting friends, well my GF is applying for a tourist Visa and she is Visiting me, So its Both!!! But for the form is it friends or Tourist!! We have been dating for 3 years.

My Girlfriend is working in the family shop, but she does not get a wage, So is she Employed or Unemployed since she does not get paid!

We where turned down in 2008 but she was granted a tourist visa on our 2^nd attempt and I know how easy it is for UK visa to turn people down if the information is wrong.

The UKBA and UKVisas have revamped their websites, so things are no longer in the same place. Have a look at Visitors - visa application guide and Supporting documents.

As she has already been granted a visit visa and kept to the terms of that visa, she has shown that she can be trusted so may be viewed more favourably this time.

However, each application is treated separately, so she will need to show that she does qualify for this visa and supply a new set of supporting documents.

As for her employment, or otherwise, explain it as you have here; what did you put last time?

Regarding what i wrote on the last application,

. Since I have known (Name) she has actively engaged in the following employment a restaurant in Pattaya for 6 months in October 2007, A department store in Pattaya from June 2008, Worked for her Uncle and Auntie in Bangkok for 7 months in August 2008 where she cooked meals for the family, a food court in Pattaya from March 2009 to present time.

As you know, a lot of people work as casual labour in Thailand, just to earn enough money to send back home and also to look after themselves and (Name) is no different and when she is not working, then she will go back to her parents and work in their shop in Yasothon and spend time with her son.

Since only undertaking work as casual labour, she is able to take time off from work in order to take holidays with me when I go to Thailand.

Because now she is working in the family shop and all profits go to support the whole family it makes it harder to address how she supports herself but i do give my GF money when i visit her amd i have put this in my sponsors letter.

I have gone the extra mile to explain everything in the sponsors letter because i am taking nothing for granted that its easier the 2nd time round and also after she had her first application turned down in 2008

I note that with the revamp of the websites there is now a generic page for supporting documents, and by that I mean it's no longer country specific.

Whereas previously applicants were advised that it was not necessary to have documents in Thai translated, it now gives the generic advice that all supporting documents not in English need to be translated.

I know many people had documents translated as a matter of course, but I wonder if there is now a requirement that supporting documents in Thai have to be translated?

So how and where in Bangkok can you get documents translated and at what cost.

I am arriving in bangkok and i was hoping that we would have our application in the next day!!! this could add a lot of time to the process

I've had a reply from VFS as follows:-

Thank you for contacting the UK Border Agency Visa Information Service in Bangkok.

For Family Visit Visa, it is not necessary for all Thai language documents to be translated.

Seems like no great change as far as Family Visas are concerned. I hope that the same applies to other VVs.

But why don't they say there are exceptions to this requirement on the VFS Thailand website?

I think that i will Email the Visa people in Bangkok and ask if the same applies to Tourist visa's

these forms and the information is such a head ache to allow someone to have a holiday...

If we had to put has much effort into getting into Thailand, I think we would end up having a holiday on the costa beach in Spain.

if you have done a visa before for your lady , just up date it with bank statements and job grantee, and mortgage payments , also translations not required.
