I Need A Knee Doc

Featured Replies

My knee locks up sometimes, then 'pops' when straightened. I have some 'grinding' in there too, but no real pain. I am wearing an elastic bandage but need a consult. Thanks.

Check out the Health forum there's a few threads in there about joint problems/replacements.

Sounds like osteoarthritis.

You can make an appointment directly with an orthopedic surgeon at any major hospital. There's no need to see a GP first.

Go and see Dr Danai at Pattaya International. He's there a couple of evenings a week.. He's a very good orthopedic surgeon and will tell you the truth unlike some of the money making establishments in Pattaya. He replaced my hip joint three years ago and a knee joint two years ago. I can highly recommend him.

There is a good specialist at Bumengrad Hospital in BKK. This sport injury specialist was educated at Yale U in the States and practiced there. He speaks perfect English and understands how we Westerners want everything explained to us. He is not eager to operate or give huge amounts of drugs. (by the way, Bumengrad Hospital is cheaper than Bangkok Pattaya Hospital)

A good friend of mine, her brother is A bone specialist in khon kaen.message me i'll send ya info.

I can recommend Dr. Thongsuk at Bangkok Pattaya Hospital. I've been using him for years, and his diagnoses and treatments have always been spot on. He did surgery on my wrist which was 100% successful as I was in considerable discomfort. He also diagnoses a condition which at least two British GP's and a chiropodist had failed to identify. He's not into milking patients for money, either. If a medication I need is available over the counter he tells me so, he'll say that there's no need to pay inflated hospital pharmacy prices. His full name is Dr. Thongsuk Phanpanompai and he works in the orthopaedic surgery at BPH. He doesn't work on Thursday and Saturday. Highly recommended.

How much would a consulation with this doctor cost?

How much would a consulation with this doctor cost?

I see him annually to have the uric acid level in my blood checked. Having the sample taken and analysed while I wait (it takes about 45 minutes), plus a consultation with Dr. Thongsuk, usually costs around 1400 Baht, I think. I'm due to see him this month, so I should dig out the old receipts and check, but I had a tidy up a few months back and I'm not sure where I put them now.

Thank you all for the useful info. I'll try one in Pattaya first.

You can also go to Dr. Panya at Bumrungrad in BKK...He is considered one of the top knee surgeons in Thailand. You will find him in the Orthopedic Dept there..office visits are less than 1000 baht...additional tests and/or xrays are additional.
