After having to wear a hat for 10 days last year, im out to avoid that debacle again. Not a vidal sasoon number you understand. Just a haircut, thats all. Although the dumb and dumber hairdos might be cool in some states, i refuse to give the apartment block another bout of belly laughs.

Fair to say you've narrowed things down too much. Should have gone for the "decent barber in LOS. ;)

Time for you mate to accept the two choices;

1 The obvious, never fails to satisfy, once over with the clippers. You might not get the number you asked for but who gives a toss, you're on holiday.

2 A bowl will be placed on your head and and any visable hair left will be chopped off. Its the modern look here. Have a look around and you'll see many variations of this style.

I cannot help you for a barber in Ban Rak - but there is a girl in Choengmon who does a decent job, and she does not charge an arm and a leg either. On top of that, she is quite chatty and speaks good English.

Heading through Choengmon - from Ban Rak, towards the end of the 'main road' there's an archway on the left. It is just after the Boat House.

Hang a left and she is the last shop on the right in the block of about 5 shops.

Her name is Nam and she usually charges between 100 and 150 baht. (100 for regulars - 150 for tourists.) This is only for a haircut mind you. If you want colour/shampoo or whatever - it's extra. You get a nice little neck massage at the end as well.

Do not turn up before 10.30 am!:rolleyes:

I use a lady in Plai Laem who has been ok for me for a couple of years not far from Banrak.

Go past Plai Laem Temple and the two 7/11's towards Choengmon then take the first right. (The shortcut avoiding Choengmon).

20 metres up on the RHS.

100 bahts, don't ask, just offer the cash, she's fine with that.

Big Hand between Plai Lam and Choengmon, a bloke with 3 massive fingers, check it out. Good haircut, only 80 Baht.

That's the one I use as well, there's a sign outside near the road stating the price of 80,-THB. Nice bloke, speaks good English. Weekends very full, try going during the week.

In Bangrak, there is that Indian place, Haveli. From there, walk along the road toward the airport about 30 meters and there is a small barbershop. I used to get my haircut there without too many people laughing later. At least no more than I was used to.
