Former first lady Barbara Bush hopes Sarah Palin stays in Alaska

WASHINGTON, D.C. (BNO NEWS) -- Former first lady Barbara Bush thinks former Alaska governor Sarah Palin should stay in Alaska, apparently suggesting she should not run for president in 2012.

The full interview with former U.S. President George H.W. Bush and former First Lady Barbara Bush will be aired on CNN on Monday, although the network has already released brief clips from the interview. In one clip, Barbara Bush was asked by Larry King what she thought of Sarah Palin.

"Well, I sat next to her once," Barbara Bush said. "Thought she was beautiful and I think she's very happy in Alaska, and I hope she'll stay there."

Earlier this month, Palin indicated that she is considering a run for the presidency of the United States. "I'm engaged in the internal deliberations candidly, and having that discussion with my family, because my family is the most important consideration here," Palin told the New York Times.

Last week, Palin also told ABC News that she believes she can beat U.S. President Barack Obama in the 2012 presidential elections if she decides to run.

"I know that a hurdle I would have to cross, that some other potential candidates wouldn't have to cross right out of the chute, is proving my record," Palin told the New York Times. "That's the most frustrating thing for me -- the warped and perverted description of my record and what I've accomplished over the last two decades. It's been much more perplexing to me than where the lamestream media has wanted to go about my personal life. And other candidates haven't faced these criticisms the way I have," she complained.

In the most recent Gallup poll about the 2012 Republican presidential candidate, Palin tied with former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee for second place with 16 percent support, both behind former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney with 19 percent of support.
