I have a Nook and it's a buggy piece of shit.

Battery barely lasts 8hrs reading, crashes often, battery flattens overnight while in standby (sometimes)

Get a Kindle 3 or the latest Sony

From what I could gather, they are still making US deliveries in 7 days but overseas buyers have to suck hind tit. If the OP knows anybody who could hand carry one he would also avoid the "Import Fees Deposit" con.

Priority shipping from Amazon USA takes 3 days to Thailand.

Just tried the amazon US site,,, 13 -18 days delivery I selected,,,, went through payment process and prior to confirming, I saw it says shipped in 6 to 8 weeks,,, cannot buy via the UK site for sending to thaialnd, it directs you to the international site via USA I believe

I got a second hand but perfectly kept Nook, I have now 500 books inside all with the color covers displayed, I read 3 books already and the battery is more than 50%, when I finish read I just leave the Nook and it switch off alone.

The aesthetic/design is far far better than Kindle and Sony and the color touch LCD band down is useful and nice to see.

Maybe yours have some problem/wrong setting/ wifi or 3G always on. I don't know but IMHO Nook 2 thumbs up!

I can assure you it's correct. Mine arrived by DHL in 3 days.

Hi TRD, thanks for that,,,,,,

I have a question regarding the Kindle e-book reader,,,,, does the browser have no problem accessing the net from within thailand from the Kindle,?

as I see in some blogs i've looked at there are quite a few complaints from customers having problems with internet access in various countries and some can only access limited sites,,,,,

if alls ok with the browser concern maybe i'll just go ahead and order,, hoping that I don't get a delay on the delivery time after placing the order,,

thanks in advance.

Yikes!  At 9500 baht that kindle is twice the price of the same item from Amazon in the US:  $139 or 4207 baht.

It would better to have a friend buy it in the US and ship it, no?

The answer to buying ebooks in Thailand is to use a vpn to access amazon.com from a US ip.  You could then buy it on your computer and drag and drop the book to the kindle.

I have even tried the read.i.th site,,,,,, they don't have from stock and have returned my mail saying that amazon have stopped shipping to outside US,,,,,, I guess TRD had ordered his before this happened,,,,,,, as its for a xmas pressie I cannot wait until january, guess my only other option is e-bay US, around 220-230 USD there for wifi only version incl shipping, but I suppose will have customs clearance to add to that at this end.

thanks

I am in the US at the moment and have just bought a NOOK. Try updating the software to v1.5 and turn off the wi fi when you are not using it, the battery won't last as long as B&N claim but you should get at least a week out of it.

The Kindle by the way seems to be in short supply over here as well, all the stores that normally stock it have run out.
