There is a clinic just around the corner from Walking street. They do HIV testing for a lot of bars in Pattaya. I believe it is around 500 Baht. Some bars won't let the ladies work unless they are tested once a month others require testing before they go to work. Some test weekly for other STD's and monthly for HIV.

If the guy had himself and the ladies tested on the day of the shoot and kept them under watch till the results were in it may have helped. Not 100% but a lot better than nothing. I don't think he did this. Too bad 500 baht is a small part of the 10,000 they were getting paid.

And a lot don't get tested at all. Even in the HIV outbreak in California it was spread by a person who had been subject to regular testing.

I completely agree. I have no idea why all bars don't test. The ones that do make the ladies pay for it anyway and it is not much money. SCARY!! but by here way of thinking she see it most likely as a fact she can not change the situation .... so she try to make as much money she still can make ....(medication,treatement, family...)prepared to anything "kamikaze style" to do for it as it can not make the case more bad anyway , that is why she now go "Japanese style"for the big money....

I think this case says it all about Thailand's police, even the way Thais accept backhanders as a way of life. The porno part is nothing really compared to the gun, drugs and visa parts of the story. No medical insurance, no testing and no workers comp. Yup, They give adult film workers workes compensation coverage in the USA. In the grand scheme of things what this guy has done is hardly that important or news worthy.

Were children exploited ? NO

You would think so wouldn't you? On the one hand Thailand has recently launched something of an anti-corruption drive, hosting an international anti-corruption conference, publicizing a new police internal affairs anti-corruption police unit - featured in a recent France 24 segment, putting up "Stop Corruption" posters around Bangkok etc. On the other hand stories like this one suggest that the police, apparently, have absolutely no qualms about engaging in corrupt behavior. So yes you would think that this would cause a certian loss of face to the country or at least to those in positions of responsibility... I think this is the point that the journalist is making, exposing the hypocrisy of it all. Naive some may suggest but fair play to him I reckon - proper journalism really.

2. Corrupted judges, prosecutors and tourists are attracting rich criminals

3. Corrupted politicians are attracting business

and so on..
