How Much Do You Need To Live In Los

I was just wondering what you would say is a good estimate as to how much one would expect to need in LOS to be able to live out there comfortably and look after the needs of your wife, and 2 children. One is 5 and the other is due OCT.

I know it depends where you live, but give an estimate for Bangkok, Southern city and say up in Udon?

Im sure many have years of experience living in LOS and so can give a good estimate.

I intend to be a teacher when I go back out there, so Im expecting anything from 25k to 40k or 50k a month?

Thanks!

Hope not :o The one that is 5 isnt exactly mine, its my wifes ex husbands son. But I class him as mine now. But as for the new one and my first, im unsure how much money is needed for a month?

Then there will be a place to live near a school I hope to teach at in the future. Many things for me to think about.

I think that the main cost to consider is schooling for the children.

25,000 Baht is probably definitely not enough for a farang budget.

I live in a village and wouldn't want to have less than 30,000 per month and I don't pay rent.

Could get by on 17,000 with missus and kids but would not want to live that cheaply.

I wouldn't even attempt to support a wife and two kids on 50k a month. Spending 10k a month on a one room apartment may be ok for a single guy but with kids you are going to want some better. Remember - where are your kids going to play? Out on the street? If you want accommodation with some green space around and a private playground then rent alone is going to be at least 50k.

In Bangkok agree. But I have half a rai land and 3 bed bungalow for 5,000 baht a month mortgage, lots of room for kids and dogs to play. Live in reasonably large town and live quite well on just over 40,000 baht a month.

With one kid at international school same age as yours and a one year old plus we own our condo we still manage to get through 70kB a month :o

But we do live like kings and have a maid . in the uk i think our life style would cost us at least 600kB a month. :D
