After hours of internet searching I cannot find what cost I should be paying for the standard non-digital scales for weighing pigs.

When a dealer comes to buy our pigs we borrow our neighbours which can be a pain in the backside at times, this has made up my mind to buy a set for the farm. We were told by the dealer that a second hand set would cost 3500baht "ouch" this sounds a little expensive however I don't know the condition or age etc.

For those of you in the know how much is a new set and how much should we be paying for a second hand set in a decent(ish) condition.

Many thanks.

Scully,

I bought a second hand set for 2 or 3,000 from memory direct from the owner so your quoted figure sounds about right with a dealer margin involved. But one day I will build a load cell setup which I can use in the pens as well, tired of the balancing act needed currently. Plus I amsure you could build it for about the same cost.

We bought some new, 3 years ago, 4500 Baht. Nothing fancy, weighed up to 200 kilos. Given the Thais reluctance to reduce the price of used goods, it sounds like a bargain. :D

Regards.

The mother in law's brother knew someone that had some for sale, I dropped them off while they negotiated the price. Once they agreed 2000baht my GF rang me and I went to inspect them, the man that was selling the scales face dropped a little when they spotted farrang.

A good price I thought however add an extra 1000baht if farrang is seen first.

Thanks for your replies.

Platform Scale 500 kg cost me around B5,000 a couple years ago.

Nice solid manual beam scale...very pleased with it.

The granary I deal with recommends their scale company,

SK Scale

www.skscale.com

They have far more than just the normal platform scale

They also sell Kett Grain Moisture Meters for B26,500

They sell the load cells that IsaanAussie refers to.

Pity all they have on their website is pictures, no spec's. Basically the units look way too big for my application. Suppose I'll just keep using my 500kg "Balance Beam". Perhaps have a look at altering it to make it more stable with a large pig crate on it.
