K-2 Visa At U.s. Embassy Bangkok

Featured Replies

I've previously heard/read that one can process their K-2 Fiancee Visa paperwork entirely through the US Embassy in Bangkok instead of the US proper, but that you need to reside in Thailand. I'm wondering what the criteria are. I'm on a B business visa, work permit in the works, partner in 4 mil. baht Amity company. Does this qualify or is it just for the retired folk and longer-term residents?

Thanks,

DD

You process a spouse visa request at the BCIS office here in Bangkok first and then the Embassy and believe they want to see you resident in Thailand for one year (but have heard reports of those with less time here so that may not be true anymore).

If you are planning to live in Thailand not sure why are you requesting a fiancee visa? That is for people living in the USA and expecting to remain there. You can get married any time here in Thailand.

Thanks for the reply. I've been here for over two years on and off, all tourist visas, just got biz visa and doing the full work permit legal stuff, since it looks like my export biz might just survive. Plan to be 50/50 or so between LOS and the states. Promised my gf (two years now) that I'd get her the visa and marry her in the states. Like to continue waking up alive.
