Hello,

I just made a one year extension to stay with multiple visa with a company but thing are going pear shape and I want to leave.

I wish I could stay until I find another job but my contract stipulate, that after my 3 months probation period, I would have to give 3 months notice if I want to leave, which make thing harder to find another job.

My passport has 2 stamps:

- Extension permit to stay till 31 dec 2011

- Non-imm multiple re-entry permit

What is the deal if I leave my company? Do I ipso-facto have to leave the country too, like I read it?

Or am I "lucky" to have a multiple and I can stay?

Thank you in advance for your answers.

Your multi seems to be a re-entry permit and only applies to a valid extension of stay which will end the day your work ends. You must leave the day work ends or apply for a new extension of stay at 1,900 baht and allows you to stay 7 more days.

If you have a 12 month extension obtained from Immigration it will finish on the day your employment ends.

You have to leave the country the same day or apply for a 7 day extension 1,900 Baht.

When you say you want to "leave", is this the job or Thailand ? if its just the job and you want to stay in Thailand longer, then you need to either go get a 7 day extension (1900 baht) and that will give you some time to sort things out OR leave the country and go to Laos or similiar and get a 60 day Tourist visa (FREE) and then you have 60 days + 30 if you extend it, to sort out alternate arrangements and the correct paperwork/visa for the next job.

I think we should ask the OP what kind of Non-Imm visa he originally had (single or multiple entry)?

If multiple entry and it is still valid he may use this one to come back to Thailand after quiting the job.

aneliane, by now you must have realised that your use of the term "extension to stay with multiple visa" is confusing everybody who would like to help you answer your questions. I won't add to the confusion by giving my own guess of what type of permission you might currently have. The easiest way for you clear this up will be to scan and post the two stamps that you mentioned you have in your passport, ie "Extension permit to stay till 31 dec 2011" and "Non-imm multiple re-entry permit"

OK Before I get it scanned, I just want to correct what I wrote :

I have an EXTENSION TO STAY PERMITTED UNTIL 31 DEC and a NON IMM RE-ENTRY PERMIT WITH MULTIPLE RE-ENTRY

Thank you all for you answers much appreciated, and I will get my scan soon

My original Non-imm was single and valid until 21dec 2010 it has a big stamp on it that said USED anyway.

There is no need for any scan. You do not have a valid visa and your extension of stay will end at end of employment. That re-entry permit is only valid for that specific extension of stay so will be useless.
