Yep. I had the same, already some more than a year ago.

Sitting on a bath bus on second road, four young girls boarding, two came sitting next to me, the other two opposite.

One opposite started talking to me, trying to distract me and the second one next to me reached her arm , behind the back of her friend to my backpocket where my wallet was. Fortunately I felt her hand and grabbed it.

In a split of a second they rang and got off the bus.

They were all teenagers...

Be warned...B)

Comically,

that is what you get, when you do not pay off someone in power....

you get arrested almost immediately....

the men in black know who you are.... and

where you operate.... and

when to teach you a valuable practical lesson in life.... :o

More power to you this time. Good job, policemen!

Hope you all will continue to help everyone in need and in trouble.

Thailand needs alot more of you.

Glad to hear at least some justice out there, but to be fair, some guys are just asking for it. You know pick-pockets are out there, just about everywhere, but still, some guys have these over-stuffed wallets practically sticking out their back pant pockets, just waiting to be snatched up. The solution is simple, carry a small wallet, with only what you need for the day, and keep it in your front pocket or somewhere else easier to monitor. Otherwise, this will happen to you, eventually. This is especially true if you are going to be going out to party and get wasted somewhere like Pattaya. Its common sense, use it.

Better to keep it down the front of your pants.

Maybe you would not mind the attention of a pickpocket them.

And to add to that Put your wallet in your front pocket that way you know if someone is close to your unit a red flag goes off. It is not impossible to still get pick pocketed putting the wallet in the front pocket-but you would almost have to be brain dead not to figure someone that shouldn't be grabbin your stuff is in your pants!

I was thinking a small amount of cash done the front would most likely be cheap, fun night out.

Pattaya, 20.12 p.m.: A tourist accidentally dropped a 100 Baht note.

A Thai policeman saw it, picked it up and returned the note.

Long live the Police. Brave fighters for justice, law and order.

Keep up the good work.

Media Reporters: Do you feel bored sometimes? - Hah?

I always take enough for the night.

And my emergency cash (enough for a taxi back to where I am staying) is placed in my sock.

I had a kid try to pickpocket me about a year ago (in bkk) by pressing some flowers he was selling up to me and trying to slip his mitts into my pocket.

If I was pissed drunk he would probably have succeeded.

Same same.

I had the pleasure of watching one of the girls act suspicious to a guy sitting across from me but he got up and off the bus at the next stop before I could tell properly if something was wrong. Then the girls got up an sat next to me.

I didn't have a wallet. I had about 3000 baht in my front pocket and had my hand firmly placed on it so it couldn't move. I could feel the tentacles reaching around and I made a grab for it and tried to get a good grip on her fingers to try and break a couple, but alas.

Funny thing was that they got off the baht bus and didn't even attempt to pay the driver, just leads me to believe he was in on it as well. They jumped on the next bus and I called out to one of the guys to watch his wallet. The girls got off the bus immediately and yelled some nice words to me in thai. I had a thai girl with me for the night and she didn't bother doing or saying anything either. I got the right royal shits with her as well for the lack of back up and sent her on her way.

Glad to see they got caught this time.

Was down in Hua Hin a few weeks back and had to look twice to make sure I wasn't seeing things...A policeman was helping an old farang across the road!!!Or was he arresting him???

I always wear cargo shorts with the velcro pockets. Very easy to hear or feel anyone trying to get into them. I also spread the money around with the least amount being in my wallet.

I also strongly suspect at least some of the baht bus drivers are on the game with some pickpocket gangs. I feel this way because of my own experience with this when I was pickpocketed but didn't manage to arrest the perps, largely due to the driver's actions (veering way off the normal route in response to what I think was a signal from the crims). In my case the gang was ladies sporting huge handbags, real ones, the ladies I mean.

This is a tip that was told to me. I use it all the time in Patts.

Put your wallet in a front pocket.

Twist the pocket through 180 degrees.

Your leg keeps it twisted.

Only works with some shorts though.

Also, always try to sit in a corner of the songtow.

I thought you Scots always had a chain on your wallets John(only joking)but probably not a bad invention sort of idea when you think of it!The 180 degree twister I'll have a dress rehearsal right now!
