Baby Saved By Roosters!

Featured Replies

I live in a small village in southern Phuket with one road in and out and very little traffic.... so, the kids use the road as a playground.

Of course I drive slowly but am always concerned that a couple of toddlers seem to be constantly unattended on the road edge. Many times, I have had to hit the brakes in a BIG way to avoid an accident as the kids choose to play on a blind corner.

So many times, a Mum has run out of the house after I pull to a stop and am getting out of the car to lead the toddlers off the road.

Tonight at sunset, two roosters ran out onto the road from opposite directions (just before the blind corner) and refused to budge. I stopped the car completely, hit the horn and they slowly strutted off.

Imagine my horror a few seconds later when I came around the blind corner and one of the toddlers ran out in my path. Since I was driving by then at a snails pace it was simple to stop and take the baby off the road.

I've believe in Guardian Angels but aren't these Mum's being a tad irresponsible leaving their babies in the care of a couple of chooks?

It's not my business to tell them how to look after their children (but as it happens far too often) - what is the best way to approach them on this safety topic??

Tough one, perhaps mentioning to one of them that you nearly hit their child in the middle of the road? Or do they see it already and do nothing?
