Additional Months On An "Ed" Visa

Featured Replies

Good afternoon. I was hoping a member might be able to clarify my understanding of the "ED" visa.

I have a UK passport and am aged 41, currently in Thailand on a multiple entry "ED" visa.

My understanding - and please forgive me if this is covered in the forum but my search only confused me further - is that if I reenter Thailand before my final 90 day stamp expires I will be given a new 90 day stamp, thus effectitvely giving me almost 15 months in the kingdom.

By which I mean if my "Admitted Until" date was 10 Jan and I flew in from Singapore on the 8 or 9 Jan I could expect to be given 90 days on arrival?

I'd be grateful for clarification as I have received anecdotal confirmation but attempts to get an answer at the Immigration Office were unsuccesful. Obviously finalising this would enable me to book my return flight to the UK, cancel or renew my rent, etc etc.

Thanks in advance and a Merry Xmas....

Any entry on a non immigrant visa prior to expiration will provide a new 90 day stay; so yes your understanding is correct.

Isn't it the "use before" date on visa rather than the "admitted until" date that controls if he can get another 90 day stamp or not?

Thanks for catching that - I thought he gave the visa expiration date but he did not. But he did have the almost 15 months right.

The visa must be valid to obtain a new extension of stay so last entry has to be made before the expiration date on the visa itself. Not the last permitted to stay. If that were true one visa would cover almost 18 months stay rather than the 15 months.
