DSI to file more charges against Jatuporn

By The Nation

The Department of Special Investigation (DSI) plans to file additional charges against Pheu Thai MP Jatuporn Promphan on Monday and petition for a new round of judicial review on his temporary release.

Over and above the terrorism charge, Jatuporn will face charges related to his recent attempts to sway the investigation by fabricating evidence and making false remarks, DSI director-general Tharit Pengdit said yesterday.

Tharit was speaking in reference to Jatuporn's role in distributing what he claims to be leaked DSI reports in connection with riots in April and May.

"Since Jatuporn admitted that he personally did not get the reports from DSI, it is tantamount to confessing that he fabricated the evidence," he said.

Tharit said Jatuporn tried to sow confusion by citing fabricated DSI reports to back up his allegation that soldiers had shot the protesters, particularly at Wat Pathum Wanaram, and insisted that the DSI had never come to such a conclusion.

While Jatuporn was trying to smear the military, he should be reminded that no law-enforcement agencies had apportioned blame regarding the bloodshed and that a person could face up to two years in jail for tampering with evidence, he said.

Regarding Jatuporn's temporary release, the DSI will file a fresh argument seeking to have his bail revoked, he said, adding that the MP was interfering with the investigation by making false allegations such as that the prosecution was paying each witness Bt1,000 per day to frame him.

In another development, about 300 red shirts held a rally in Lop Buri to stage mock funerals for Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva, his deputy Suthep Thaugsuban and Tharit.

The rally took place at the provincial hall before moving on to the nearby 3rd Special Warfare Regiment base. Another mock funeral was held marking the military's crackdown on red-shirt protesters.

Why is this guy still tolerated and walking around? ph34r.gif

Maybe it's to let the clown continually make a fool of himself to the public, like a walking billboard for the UDD.

UDD supporters should realize by now what a bunch of idiots their leaders are, with Jatuporn being the obvious example, and relinquish their support for them.

Of course Jatuporn would be worth more to the red cause if he were thrown in jail.

Strange reasoning. ..if he did not get it personally from DSI, he could have gotten it from Mr X who got it from the DSI..

If it did come from a third person, perhaps then Jatuporn should have refrained from making claims as to its origins.

I read this as the reports were given to him by a third person. In any event I do not see that even if he commissioned the illegal acquisition of the papers how this can be said to tampering with evidence.

And imagine that people in his constituency voted for him...several times.

He's a party list MP, not a constituency MP, no one has ever voted him in.

Never ever? I stand corrected - it is then clearly then the party that is the culprits...

People aren't chosen randomly to become part of a political party. At least someone vouched for, supported or invited him. Who was it or who were they?

Just a slight rephrase.

People become part of a political party by filling in an application or registration form. The only restrictions may be Nationality and legal age. It's the part where you become party list member where people must vouch or vote for you.
