PM Denies House Dissolution in April

The prime minister insists he has no plans to dissolve the House in April.

He also says his government is ready to give an explanation over the deaths at a Buddhist temple and of a Japaneses photographer if the two cases are raised during a censure debate.

Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva urged Pheu Thai party-list MP Jatuporn Prompan, also a red-shirt core leader, to refrain from opposing the government's national reconciliation campaign.

Abhisit then said the government is ready to explain all issues, including the investigation report by the Department of Special Investigation, or DSI, on soldiers' possible involvement in the deaths of a Japaneses photographer and six people at Pathumwanaram Temple if Jatuporn raises the issue in a no confidence debate.

The premier also said a censure debate in April will have no bearing on the House dissolution as he has never given an exact time frame for it.

He urged Jatuporn to review his conduct as his recent move posed hurdles to the government's national reconciliation attempt.

Abhisit also called on Thais to help put pressure on those who reject the unity rebuilding effort until they cease their moves.

Deputy Prime Minister in charge of national security Suthep Thaugsuban said he has no knowledge of the supporting evidence submitted by the DSI in its move against Jatuporn.

The DSI earlier today submitted a petition for the third time to have the bail granted to Jatuporn revoked.

The MP has been accused of disclosing falsified documents on the investigation report concerning the deaths of a Japaneses photographer and six people at Pathumwanaram Temple.

Suthep said he believes the general public are aware that Jatuporn's behavior has violated bail conditions.

He added that the red-shirt leader has not stopped his move to incite chaos.

The deputy premier said revocation of Jatuporn's bail solely rests with the court and the government will not interfere in the judicial process. The court will be releasing its verdict on this request tomorrow.

Jatuporn, meanwhile, lashed back at the DSI's attempt to revoke his bail. He accused DSI chief Tharit Pengdit of performing his duty immorally.

Jatuporn then challenged Tharit to release the authentic investigation report if he thought the documents produced by Jatuporn have been falsified.

The red-shirt MP also said he will file a malfeasance charge against Tharit, accusing the DSI chief of unfair treatment and submitting falsified documents to the court.

Jatuporn also labeled the attempt by the government to facilitate the bail process for other detained red-shirt members as insincere.

I think they got the wrong headline. If they can't even match headlines with stories, I really have to wonder if they matched stories with facts.

General consensus is that the election will be called after the constitution changes are ratified. The changes are meant to throw a large bone to Bhum Jai Thai, and that insures that they will be back as coalition partners after the election, with BJT having a slightly larger piece of the pie - odd man out will be Puea Pandin most likely.
