Frenchman held for child rape

PATTAYA: -- Police have arrested a 56-year-old Frenchman for allegedly having sex with a young girl whose HIV-positive mother rented her out to the man to raise money for medical treatment.

The man was arrested at his condominium in Pattaya yesterday morning and charged with raping the 8-year-old girl.

Police said the girl's mother, 42, an assistant cook, rented her daughter out to the man for 1,000 baht each time. She was also arrested.

Pol Lt-Gen Jongrak Juthanont, Region 2 police chief, said police seized from the suspect's residence at Jomtien Condotel more than 100 photographs of Jean Claude Chamoux, 56, having sex with the girl.

Pol Lt-Gen Jongrak said the girl's mother was a former bar worker in Pattaya.

Another woman, Benchamas Thapthimthai, 28, was also arrested and charged with procuring a 12-year-old girl for Mr Chamoux for 800 baht.

The procurers are liable to 10-20 years in jail and/or a fine of up to 400,000 baht while Mr Chamoux could face life imprisonment, Pol Lt-Gen Jongrak said.

In Chiang Rai province, police arrested a man and a woman on charges of luring young women into forced prostitution in Singapore.

Somchai Saising, 25, from Yasothon province and Patarida Promchan, 34, from Nakhon Ratchasima were arrested in Phan district of Chiang Rai on Tuesday.

Pol Col Jaruwat Waisaya, deputy chief of the Crimes against Children, Juvenile and Women Suppression Division, said the suspects belonged to a gang that had lured many young girls into forced prostitution in Singapore last year.

One victim, a girl aged 15, managed to flee back to Thailand and alerted authorities. Two other members of the gang, Kanokporn Jinafoei and Ratanaporn Suthisompong, were arrested recently.

Mr Somchai and Miss Patarida denied the charges, saying they did not know the victims and travelled to Singapore only on business.

Pol Col Jaruwat said their victims were forced to be roadside prostitutes in Singapore and some slept with nearly 10 men a day.

I know that when I am in BKK, or any other South Eastern Asian country (Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, HK...) I am always especially careful.

I work as a model in these countries, and the circle of wealthy men and women know no boundaries as far as their sexual appetites. Sadly, they know that it's a matter of what you can afford.

I have heard stories of models disappearing from parties, clubs, etc... and it has always been believed that this is what happens to them when they disappear.

I remember that I was at a club one time in Kuala Lumpur hanging out and having a few drinks with some people I had just met. I was talking to this guy that I though was very nice... turns out he was "royalty", and when my friends saw me talking to him, they immediately pulled me away "just in case". They said that it's not a good thing to have a rich man fancy you in this circle.

Strange, but unfortunately, true...

At least you would be missed and your family could afford to look for you! Which is more than these children from the north can expect!

The sad fact that life is cheep in many of the North and North East provences permits this process to happen. The sad old men who then pray on these children can then strip them of their childhood.

For the good of the rest of society I personaly hope this idiot spends the rest of his life at the Bangkok Hilton, along side the girls mother! People like this do not have a right to be in public and really need to be shot.....Point blank between the eyes!

I have a few immediate thoughts ....

Presumably the 8-year-old's father is nowhere on the scene, thus with the ex-BG mother in jail - what's going to happen to the little girl? Hopefully somewhere in the extended family is a truly loving couple to take care of her, but I fear that she will simply be "fattened" and "matured" then returned back into prostitution to repay those who care for her for the next few years.

Have the police identified the 12-year-old and also arrested her parents, or at least investigated them?

And what was the involvement of the Condo staff while all this was going on? Did they not get suspicious and report it, or did the infamous "not my business" mentality prevail?

Glad to see the boys in brown are earning their crusts lately and rounding up these alleged perverts with regularity. Sooner they're all in clink the better.

edit - Oh yeah, almost forgot this - Somchai? Another Somchai arrested for very serious crimes? What is it about people with that name? Seems like every second, murderer, rapist, procurer, pimp, thug, trafficker, and corrupt cop or politician's son is called Somchai ...... what's so popular about being "Mr Yes-Orange" anyway?

------

To the roving glamour model who tried to hijack the thread in the second posting - have you no empathy for the abused children of this region? Your "near miss" with danger should have been the topic of a seperate thread, not a narcissistic "look at me" announcement on the back of this child's misery.

Did not even bother to read the full story. Midway I got sick... :o:D

Cut his tounge, let him eat his balls, and be f****d by Wombah in his ear. Still humane enough I think.

No offence to any other French nationals, this just get me sick.

I am sorry tht the mom is sick with HIV/AIDS, and that the Frenchman is mentally sick, but now an 8-year old girl has acquired a life situation that is worse than the afflictions of these adults. Nature will tend to the mother, but the guy needs help from this society in his offing.

First try him in a court of law not a court of internet chat rooms. Establish if he really did it first. I had to laugh at some of my friends who were saying that Whacko Jacko would have a 1 day trial and then be incarcerated FOREVER. He beat all the charges so he is Not Guilty by law. JD

THAT TOPIC WAS CLOSED A LONG TIME AGO :o

I'd like to know what will happen to the little girl.

Will she be protected from now on?

Or will she be used by some other adult?

Like I said prove it court. Submit the evidence before a judge and see what he or she says. I read the part about the photos but, as it has happened before, when it comes to producing the pictures they can't found. A slow and painful death? Seem to be blood thirsty in the morning. He will get whatever the law proscribes if and when he is found guily and that is what is 'supposed' to separate us from regimes like Pol Pot and the like. JD

What's your point here ? There is nothing wrong with the amount of views here - we CARE.

As for the mom having HIV - that's irrelevant. Personally, I'd rather die than have some pervert messing with my kids.

You'll note that in all these cases, when reported - the parent always has some kind of excuse. I guess they are trying to get some sympathy.

Remember the one recently who was pimping out her 13 (?) year lod daughter because she didn't have the bus far to get home ?

I would have to agree what is your point, it's a tragedy and what else can be said, that wasn't already said.

I agree - innocent until proven guilty. And in that case, I hope he gets the maximum penalty available under the law. The lynch-mob mentality of some of the posters here is a disgrace. Next time you wip yourself into a frency and feel good about it, consider all the innocent people hurt and killed by frenzied mobs - cultural revolution in China, Crystal Night in Nazi Germany, burning of witches, lynching of blacks, you must be proud of your company.

Let's deal with these people in a proper manner, i.e according to the law. If this report is true, enough damage to innocents have been done already. If it is not true (and you ought to take any newspaper article in Thailand with a pinch of salt), you do not want to hurt an innocent man.

And - if this incident really happened, why only punish the perpetrator? What about the mother? The other people who must have seen this happening and done nothing about it? The father of the child, who is not mentioned, but probably has abandoned the mother and child - doesn't he bear some responsibility for what happened? The society - who fails to provide proper medical treatment and forces a mother to sell her child to survive (still no excuse for doing it), the average man & woman in the street - who see poor and homeless people (including kids) everyday but do nothing to help.

Aren't we all partly responsible for things like this happening?

An HIV positive BG pimping out her own 8 yr old daughter??

One can only feel tragic sympathy for anybody who has fallen so low, and become so desperate as to do something so utterly dispicable.

If guilty, the man should spend the rest of his life in the worst kind of ######-hole, and hopefully he will.

I never mentioned a lynch-mob and to compare the possible actions taken towrads a pervent to the actions of rasist extremists is "disgraceful". I was suggesting a sentence for him. Why should I treat a man like an equal when he decides that raping little child is fun.

I will most likely be attacked for this and I am NOT condoning what happened.

BUT how can we climb inside the ladies mind and see where she is coming from? Maybe she was a good mother and needed cash not only for her treatment but to care for the kid.

Lets look beyond the case to the root of the problem

If the Thai goverment got off its ass and helped these people maybe things like this would not happen.

Why is it ONLY that farangs are mentioned that do this? U think thai and Chinese don't?? but they pick on us. Brings more condemnation but it only makes thailand look worse for the story

Just out of coriousty have any of these cases been followed to see what happens to them. I know a farrang that was arrested by the local cops, the situation not the same two girls 13 & 14 from the local orphange brought to his home to be raised. Supposedly he was having sex with the older girl. I say that. as there never was a trial, a good sized amount of money was paid all forgiven, no jail, no deportation.

Anyone have experience with something actually going through the system, without the pay off?
