Ayutthaya Tries to Woo World Expo 2020 Organizers

The president of the Ayutthaya Industry Council has expressed readiness to host the World Expo 2020, saying Ayutthaya is the most suitable choice for a world class event, because of its outstanding culture, history, and tradition, and its unique way of life.

President of the Ayutthaya Industry Council, Thotsapol Wangsilabat, disclosed that on January 12, the secretary general of the Bureau of International Expositions, or BIE, Vicente Loscertales, who is in charge of the selection of organizers of the World Expo 2020, will travel to Ayutthaya Province to assess its qualifications, after the province expressed its willingness to host the grand event.

The assessment will cover several areas such as the social situation, market analysis, cultural effects, accommodations, hospitality, and the province's overall capability to organize such an event.

He will later make the final decision on which province will be the best location for the expo.

Thotsapol said provincial officers will present Ayutthaya's cultural heritage to the BIE secretary general.

He added that if the province is chosen, it will use the opportunity to promote products from the Support Arts and Crafts International Center of Thailand under the patronage of Her Majesty the Queen.

Furthermore, he affirmed the readiness of Ayutthaya to host the world-class event.

The GDP of the province is the third highest in the country in 2008, with a value of 419.6 billion baht.

The Gross Provincial Product, or GPP, is 548.6 billion baht per capita, per year.

The per capita GPP increased three consecutive years, from 2007 to 2009.

Locals' incomes will have a tendency to increase by 3 percent by the time the expo takes place in 2020.

Thotsapol went on to say that the ancient city of Ayutthaya was designated a UNESCO Cultural World Heritage Site in 1991.

The province is one of Thailand's major tourist attractions due to its outstanding history, culture, and community life along the river.

Not even taking into consideration Thailand's ability to organize & pull off such an event (which I question)....are there really that many accommodations near Ayutthaya to accommodate so many visitors? No offense to Ayutthaya, but I don't think you have a shot in you know where!

The arguments above for Ayutthaya to hold this shindig could easily be applied to the top end of Sukhumvit Road in BKK or Pattaya.

I suggest the chances of putting on this comedy show would be considerably enhanced if that upstanding lady who used to rejoice in being the head honcho of TAT (or not if you are insane enough to believe her) were given the job of promoting it.

If this bid is unsuccessful maybe one to hold the Winter Olympics would win the day/

Not a bad income for the average person

Wonder if inflation over the next decade will remain under 3%?

China spent an estimated US$58 Billion on the Shanghai Expo i.e. 4 times the annual GDP of Ayuttaya province.

Maybe they can get the Nuclear Power Station built next to it and have a Formula 1 course weaving between the Expo's? :D

Forget the pipe dreams and get the traffic flowing, build new roads, protect citizens from crazy, uninsured drivers and stop the corruption first!!!

I suppose there should be study-visits made, by all those involved plus the usual entourage, to recent Expo-host-cities in order to study their successes & learn from their experience. First-class travel, 5-star hotels and suitable per-diems as-appropriate natch.

As it happens, I consider myself to be an expert on such events, and would be happy to drive the band-wagon, for a suitable fee. :whistling: Let the party begin ! :partytime2:

I think the Thais hold the world's finest wankfest in Pattaya, and they've got everything in place to do so, whatever your preference.

I really can't understand why they lack such ambition. Expo indeed. That same energy they show for selling their sons and daughters into the sex trade should be applied to the world's sporting events. They're for sale. Ask the Russians and that obscure patch of desert sand where the World Cup is headed. Catarrh.

What happened to the Olympic bid of a few years back? They need to keep trying. When World cup football votes are for sale and so too is international cricket, then why can't the corrupt Thais, masters at double speak, no morals, totally unethical practice, perfectionists at selling their own mothers along with the children, get a piece of this action. Any country that acts so amicably in welcoming so many pedophiles to rape their kids is onto something when it comes to world peace and internationally diplomacy. Maybe the Thai way offers a realistic way to accepting we are different but must embrace our differences.

I think they are losing their grip on what it means to be totally corrupt if they don't go for this one in a big way. I mean those pedophiles are willing to travel a long way and the blood red flesh crawling pound carries a lot of bang. Not to mention the money the avrage sex tourist is willing to pay for time spent with his Thai grand daughter.

And if Singapore and the likes of Dubai can do F1 then why not the City of Bangkok holding an F1 round? Asoke to Silom and back? Get Rossi over to check out all those 125s and give his backing to moto GP debuting here. That Bari circuit has to be seen to be believed! Don't tell me that in a capital city where I can't buy a single genuine, original, uncopied product the Thais can't serve up a pirated, fake, ripped off version of an international event?

I mean come on. Even last week they were trying to tell us that Russian International Orchestra Leaders live in Pattaya for the peace and tranquility, once he'd paid his tea money. Come on. They can get away with anything here so why not amongst a wider wiser international community?

If the Thais can sell their 7 year old daughters to International pedophiles why can't they bribe their way with that money towards hosting not just an Expo but say a porno? I mean a real all for the family all out in your face anything goes try it the Thai way Lady Boy extravaganza?

They tell us that Pataya is a family orientated City. So prove it. Let's do 'Porn For Mom and Dad. Kids Come Free'. An international event aimed at uniting the Buddhist, Christain and Muslim world through mixed race prono all out shag fests. I mean Beach Road is half way there already. Just televise it.

And why not the World Cup of Viagra Enduarance? If the Russians can have a crack and the er.... there's a strip of land called er .... there's a place that's about 100 miles long in the desert near to Saudi, its called ..... qatar. That's it. If Qatar can get it and still expect any gays who visit not to have sex, then why not all accepting Thailand? Hasn't any body heard of Bangkok United? Manchetser simply lifted the name. Do it Thai style and add that vital sex ingredient that Thailand, as Singapore described, the international brothel, can provide 24 hours, non-stop; the land of the mia noi. A Sex World Cup sponsored by Viagra. Up straight and personal. A gay world cup and a lesbian, disabled, ethnic, one eyed, hermit, wood carvers World Cup, on ice, at night, naked, surrounded by imported black rhinos, blindfolded, carrying copies of the Elgin marbles over broken glass as a tribute to Khun Thaksin forgiven and not forgotton by a re-united Thai red and yellow nation determined to grow more rice and farm more prawns for the nation's good.

They could place the venues around the country like Russia plans to do. You know, a stadium in Nan, another in Petchabun, one in Ubon, another in Yala - that would go down a bomb, one on Koh Samui and another couple placed in Phuket and Boyz Town Pattaya. And new roads built and fast modern rail links, a central airport to link the central plains with the central planes. Turn those dull road side stops into massage parlour shag palaces. And imagine a Thailand without dual pricing. It could happen.

Show some of that amazing Thai quality and go for the Nude Winter Olympics as well. The Saudis have 22 square kms under snow but the Thais have a freezer in every corner Mom and Pop shop. Why, it's a head start.

The Thais can do that.

We need to believe!

Housepainter you have excelled yourself. Such venom, enough to make a krait jealous. I loved it.

In the event that Thailand is awarded the Olympic Games I can almost guarantee gold medals in the over 80's nude leapfrog and underwater wrestling competitions.
