There have been various threads on the new A1 level English test. We would like to put on record here a correction to what we see as " creative advertising " by one of the Pattaya – based visa agencies. I won't name that agency in this post, but the agency does work in tandem with a former advertiser on this forum who now sponsors a different Thai forum.

The following is an extract from the agency's latest advertisement in one of the Pattaya English language newspapers. I have attached it as written, and you can judge the content and spelling for yourselves :

" The only English test centre in Pattaya for the new UK settlements visa ".

There are obviously two basic errors in this simple sentence –

• there is no " new" UK settlement visa.
• " settlements visa" is pretty poor English

The third ( and creative ) error in the advertisement is that this company is not the only test centre in Pattaya. There are two test centres. We work in association with English Test Centres which is the other test centre in Pattaya. Full details of the two approved Pattaya test centres can be found on the VFS list of approved providers for Thailand, or you can get full details of English Test Centre's services from our website – www.visas-plus.com

Further to my information below, Visas Plus is opening a branch office in Pattaya itself. At the moment we are based in Jomtien, next to the Honorary British Consulate and Chonburi Immigration Office.

In order to provide better service to our customers we will be operating our branch office from a Travel Agency - Ocean Travel - based in Soi Post Office, ( Soi 13/2) in Pattaya from next week. The office is almost directly opposite the Post Office itself. We hope to be able to operate a daily service from this office.

We will, of course, still be operating as usual from our main office in Jomtien.

Thats good news for me no more travelling to Jomtien .
