Non Immigrant B Visa Question

Featured Replies

Hi There

I'm currently in Thailand with a Non immigrant B visa that expired Dec 2010. (No work permit I'm just looking around for business ideas). I need to leave in around 10 days and when I return I will only get 30 days as a tourist.

So my question is I have been told that I can leave and go to Lao get an exit stamp for leaving thailand and then apply at the Thailand embassy for a new Non Immigrant B visa as long as I have all the paperwork. Letter from company in UK etc. Is this true?

Does anyone have any better ideas? Anywhere closer? Maybe I can fly to a county nearby but I don't know who would issue the non immigrant B visas easier.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

You might get lucky and get a single entry non-B, good for a 90 day stay.

For multiple entry you must have a work permit.

Currently only Kuala Lumpur issues multiple entry non-B in the region, but only if you have at least 8 months validity on your WP.

If you don't have a work better apply for a double entry tourist visa in Vientiane instead as they are free at the moment.

If you mean just a letter from a UK company it is not likely to be accepted for issue of a non immigrant B visa anywhere in the immediate area I suspect. As said a tourist visa seems to be all you really need until you make up your mind and can apply for a work permit.

Even more confused LOL. I have been on a business visa for 2 years now.

Poorsucker "For multiple entry you must have a work permit." - You can't get a work permit without a non immigrant B visa not the other way around.

As a tourist does anyone know if you can still come in and out as you please? Is there a limit?

Thanks

I think what Poor sucker is getting at is that without a WP or reciept for your WP, you will not be issued a multiple Non-imm B in any SEA countries if your a British citizen, they generally will not do it and only issue a single entry Non-imm B, once you get your WP sorted out, immigration will re-chop your P/P for multiple entries

I am guessing your original was issued in the UK.....if you want a multiple entry Non-imm B, you will need to apply in the UK

On the tourist visa, whether you can come and go as you please depends on what sort of tourist visa you apply for...

Also if you have been on a business visa for 2 years.....seems a long time to be looking at doing business in Thailand.....:whistling:

Correct Soutpeel.

Only KL will issue One year Non-B if you have a work permit.

All nations, not only the British.

To get a multiple entry non-B in KL you must have at least 8 months left on your WP.

No doubt some consulates will think the same.

1. You get a single entry non-B.

2. Get the work Permit.

3. Get the multiple entry in KL.

I will be going to the Birmingham Thai Consulate on the 19th Jan to get a Non-B visa, I have all the documentation that is required.

Do I apply only for a 3 month Non-B visa, then the following week once back in Thailand apply for my work permit, then can I change the the Non-B into a one year Non-B Mutable entry here in Thailand.

Any answers/advice would be grateful.

You can never obtain any multi entry visa inside of Thailand. If you qualify for one year extension of stay from Immigration no travel is required. If not you would have to exit to a Consulate to obtain another single or if possible a multi entry non immigrant B visa (and then make border runs every 90 days).

Many thanks for a quick response, if I get a years extension can I apply for multiple entry, at a cost.

JOHN
