<P class=first>The British Home Championship is set to return to the calendar for the first time since 1984, the BBC understands. The catalyst for its revival comes from Vauxhall, which is set to announce the first of four sponsorship deals with the Home Nations at Wembley on Tuesday.

Northern Ireland won the last British Championship before concerns about crowd trouble and fixture congestion saw the competition discontinued.

The most likely date for the tournament's comeback is 2013.

More soon

I thought a similar event was going to be taking place soon but without the English.

WC has been damaged so it'll be something to look forward to.

I'd hate to think that was the case.

I know who i'd rather play than Thailand or Ghana, for sure..

Just wait till we, the Irish and Welsh beat England. :D:whistling:

To be honest I'd be happy enough if we get to kick lumps out of them for 90mins every year.

However this time the teams will better mirror the national characteristics of the British Isles. Scotland, Wales, Ireland and Northern Ireland will be joined by Poland Albania, and Rumania, with England playing In Florida joined by Canada and Australia to better reflect where the English reside.

The championships are still not assured however, as the majority of the population in Britain no longer care as the "pools" have been replaced by betting on no-balls in the Mumbai 20/20's
