Less Expensive Beachfront Areas Of Thailand

Featured Replies

Hi,

I'm considering an extended stay in Thailand (nothing set yet, but I have the opportunity if I want)

I looking for peaceful living in a beachfront property (small single room apartment with bathroom is fine). THe beach must be nice - I don't require a perfect picturesque beach, but it nice enough that it's always tempting me for a leisurely swim (or kayaking)

Other requirements are reliable internet access (I work online) & reasonably close to grocery shopping.

I'm looking for the least expensive area that meets this criteria. What are some good options?

koh chang look beautiful! I work quite a bit though (some days I do nothing but eat/work) so I would like internet access right fro mmy rental unit. Are there any other options for this setup?

Koh Chang is a great place to visit but a bad place to live long term. LT housing is minimal and they will go to great extremes to take advantage of newbie farang.

Suggest Trat mainland. Or, ifyou have a few extra $'s, Hua Hin.

Rayong or Ban Phe then Samed island is just a boat ride away.

I concur with the above, however the prices seem to be climbing at the moment.

Check out the many small quiet beach resorts in Prachuabkhirikhan province (south of Hua Hin), going from north to south: Pranburi, Sam Roi Yot, Thap Sakae, Ban Krut, Bang Saphan Yai, Bang Saphan Noi.

If you like a bit of quiet and dont mind being a bit remote from the tourist spots like Pattaya, Hua Hin, Phuket,...then I'd say Prachuab (an hour south of Hua Hin) is a nice place to stay.
