Chinese New Year In Bangkok

Featured Replies

I'll be passing through Bangkok on the evening of 2nd February and I understand that Chinese New Year is on the 3rd February this year. Can anyone please pass on any information as to what goes on, the timing of what goes on and whether it's worth staying over for a night (or two), to take in the activities. I presume it all takes places in or around Yaowarat (sp?) and I'm coming from the airport so can easily get on the new train and get to Hualamphong (with one change I think) and stay in a hotel around there.

Will anything be happening on the evening of the 2nd or will the main stuff be on the 3rd, during the day or evening? Found some details but nothing as to exactly when it all kicks off:

Anyone been and can recommend or otherwise?

Thanks
