I tried to boil water today but it keeps overflowing the edge of the pot and putting out the gas flame.

Could any of you who actually took the time to respond to the grown man who did not know how to shave without cutting himself, or the guy who did not know how to stop his BO, please advise how to boil water?

Thanks so much. rolleyes.gif

Pressure cooker. Genius device.

That would be my old job. Sorry not the right answer! smile.gif Besides, obviously I'm not a genis, genias, geen....what you said.

If I don't answer further advice right away for a bit, it's because I'm blow-drying my hair in the bathtub while making toast.

Take care with getting butter on the floor. You could slip. Crumbs can get places and cause a rash.

Climb to the highest level of your condo / house. Water boils quicker the higher up you are.

But it boils too much. And I'm at sea level! Now what?

Pressure cooker.

almost as good as the "anyone know where to get a toilet plunger?". people actually answer those questions with maps.

You're kidding, right?

With the dismal outlook for American's inability to care for themselves, I'm tempted to say the world might end today. But it's already tomorrow in Australia.

Don't want to cook the water, just want to boil it without overflowing.

Had enough yet, guys? wink.gif

If its for tea or coffee, buy an electric water boiler. If it's for pasta, etc., add a little bit of olive oil to the water and then it won't overflow.

Pressu . . .

Just put a bit in, not too much.

Why is it that sometimes it overflows then sometimes it doesn't?

Thanks! But the girl was so much hotter than the water that I found it hard to pay attention to the instructions.....besides, I use gas, not electric!

I have gas as well, but Maalox seems to take care of that issue. I can't help you with the boiling water problem. I'm in Thailand and that is what Thai chefs are for.

But, keep asking these interesting, informative questions. They balance the ones already being asked on this forum. I'll have to search through my 10,000 photos I have on line to solve the problem.

STOP using the Maalox. Laughter's the best medicine.

Good idea. Do you know any laughter books? Are there any second had book stores in Thailand that might have one?

No, but I think it's hilarious that at 1a.m. there are 33 people reading a post about boiling water!

Whoever said Americans cannot take care of themselves has not been to Europe lately. If you do not want boiling water to overflow do not fill the pot up near the top. That is the first lesson for today. Tomorrow we will cover addition and subtraction and the alphabet.

I was confused by your use of the word 'tea'.

Sorry, what was the question? I seemed to have dozed off.

You seem extremely capable of finding informative videos on the net. Is there one about how to boil water while shaving and ridding yourself of body odor?

Let's just nail all three in one and close the thread!

It seems you have already solved your own problem. The water has boiled AND doused the flame, just take pot off the burner and you're ready for your tea/coffee/instant noodles. This way you're already one step ahead of the game next time you want to boil water, provided you survive that long!
