International Driving Licence

Featured Replies

Can anyone tell me where I can get an International Driving Licence in Pattaya, and how much they cost (and how much hassle I can expect)?

I have Thai and British licences, but need an International one for other countries.

Many thanks.

You cant, you have to go to chonburi.

Thanks. In that case it would be more convenient for me to do it in Bangkok. Do you know if it is optional? Or does my residence dictate that I have to use Chonburi?

I did one a week ago.

Why Thailand insists on us Farangs having an IDP to drive in Thailand when there is no translation to Thai is beyond me.:coffee1:

Great info. Thanks.

The driving schools in Pattaya will get the IDP for you, presumably for a fee.

There's on just up the road from Friendship heading towards Third that has a board up advertising their service.

You can go online to the A.A. or the R.A.C. in the UK print of the form for a International Driving Permit. Fill it in and send it to them by air mail with the fee enclosed. You will get the international Driving Permit you need for other countrys in around 10-12 days sent to you home address in Pattaya if that is where you are.

I got one at the post office on Siam country club road, past the covered market but before the driving range, on the left hand side if travelling from town. various prices depending on length. I got a ten year one for 5ooo baht. service good. take copy passport and driving licence and they send application off and it comes back in about 10days. very helpful there.

Hope this helps.

Aren't they the dodgy ones that aren't legal in any country?

Thanks. I might just do this - the least hassle option!
