Difference Between A Tourist Visa And A Non-Immigrant Visa?

Featured Replies

There are lots of different kids of Non-Imm Visa. Non-Imm is meant for a stay with purpose - whether that purpose is to study, work, attend a meeting, be a monk, preach, joing your family, retire or whatever. Tourist visas are just that, meat for holiday makers - they can not be continually extended in country (some can be extended a short period). Non-Imm Visas can also be used to build towards settling (residency and eventually citizenship).

Tourist visa will give you 60 days when entering the kingdom.

This can be extended with 30 days at immigrations for 1900 baht.

No immigrant visa will give you 90 days when entering.

This also a condition for getting 1 year extension of stay based on marriage or retirement.

Non immigrant visa is also required when applying for work permit.

A Tourist Visa gives a stay of up to 60 days.

A 2 entry or 3 entry will give 2 or 3 entries of up to 60 days.

Each entry can be extended at Immigration for a further 30 days.

Issued for the reason of tourism.

A Non Imm Visa gives a stay of up to 90 days.

A Multi Entry gives unlimited entries of up to 90 days each entry. Valid for 12 months.

Issued for the reason of business, employment,Thai family, education etc.
