Coming To Chiang Mai On Holiday For The First Time

Featured Replies

Will have about 10 days in and around Chiang Mai and was wondering what I really need to see/do while I am there ? Also would be interested on any advise on day trips etc

thanks

Tiger Kingdom (1 afternoon)

Get in a cage with the largest tigers they will let you, pay their photographer to take photos, costs little and he stirs the tigers up.

Elephant Show + ride (1 afternoon)

The show is quite entertaining, they paint and play football, cheesy but fun

Do at least a 1 day trek (Mr. Ton) to Doi Inthenon

Rafting, waterfall, walk, elephant ride.

Doi Suthep and Doi Pui (1 afternoon)

Big wat on the hill, village a few miles further, dress up in HMong tribal outfits and get photos taken, very cheap and the gardens are quite nice.

Visit the Wats in town (1 day)

Wat Chedi Luang, right in the middle, absolutely massive

Wat Umong off Suthep road, underground Buddha and a nice lake with fish to feed.

Wat Chet Yot off Huay Kaow road, very old and different.

Hotshots Nightclub

Pornping hotel the road parallel to night bazaar but nearer the river. Good live shows 10pm and midnight (midnight show is best)

No rude stuff just singing and dancing, buy a Ben More Whiskey set for 440bht, that will do a table of 4, nothing else to pay.
