Greetings all. I am currently living in Thailand on a non im '0' 1 year multi visa and have been for the past 10 months. I need to get another one by the 2nd of march, can i go to malaysia for this or do I have to go back to England?

Replies will be greatly appreciated,

It all depends on what your reasons are for applying.

If married to a Thai Yes. If not you might struggle to get one anywhere even in UK.

Do you realise that you can do a border run just before your Visa expires and get another 90 days. Giving a total of almost 15 months.

really, so if I head down to ranong (I live in hua hin) and jump over to burma and come back, I will have another 90 days... that is a golden bit of news :) I got my visa in the UK so easily, they just wanted the £108, no questions asked. The reason I would give for being in thailand is looking for graphic design work. You can do this with the 'O' visa can you not? I do not wish to go back to the UK even for a visa, so I would prefer to go to malaysia. I am not married and do not intend to lol, how much would it cost do you think in malaysia anyway? I can speak thai okay as well so that may help, obviously not in malaysia.

Just go before the visa expires, not on the same day, the day before.

No you will not get a non-O in the region.

Consulates in England has also starting to enforce harder rules.

See this thread.

Seems you have no valid reason to apply for a non-immigrant visa, unless you are over 50. In Asia you will only get a tourist visa, so in the end you might need to return to Europe for a new non-immigrant visa. But there you will also need a valid reason.

You can look for work on any kind of visa, but can only start working with a work permit, which you only get on a non-immigrant visa. So the only thing that would keep you from having to go back to the UK is finding an employer and a job that would qualify you for a work permit.

You will not obtain in Malaysia. And it is very unlikely you will obtain in the UK again - certainly not for looking for employment. Perhaps if you have long term accommodations proof but only in UK - not anywhere in the area.

For the new 90 day entry you must arrive before the use before date on your actual visa from UK. If your current permitted to stay stamp is later you still have to return before the visa date to obtain the new stay.

So basically if I head down to burma on the 1st of march, then re-enter I have another 90 days. In that time I need to locate an employer who would grant me a letter to gain a work permit and thus a 'B' visa? I am still working on my graphics portfolio, it is nearly completed, it is harsh because all of my university work was on my laptop which subsequently got stolen! lol owel, what can you do but laugh :P

You do not obtain a work permit with a letter. You need a job offer to obtain a work permit and full paperwork. You may be able to obtain a visa with only a letter but it will likely take a trip outside the local area to do so.

I seriously doubt anyone will give you a job offer being fresh out of school and a foreigner for the required minimum salary you need for a work permit. There are quite a few talented Thai's that would work for much less than is required for a foreigner to get a work permit.

However, I believe you can still get 2-3 two month tourist visas and the you can extend each one of these for one month at a cost of 1900 baht. So you could do a quick visa run the day before your current non O expires and get 3 more months. Then when this time period is up, go get yourself a couple of tourist visas which will allow another 6-9 months.
