Has anyone seen 1971 or older VW buses around BKK, or further abreast? I explored Thaicar.com, autonostalgia.com, and one2car, but have thus far failed in my quest. Please advise.

Loads here in Pattaya.. Unfortunately many are being used to serve Russians cheap cocktails :annoyed: I don't feel too bad when I see a mid 70's van modified into a semi mobile bar.. But when it's an early spilt window I feel like crying in frustration..

There is a guy near to the new Pattaya bypass as you approach Soi Siam Country club who always seems to have half a dozen or more buses that he is restoring for sale.. They are pretty popular with the Thais, along with VW bugs and Minis.

thanks a lot! and yes, i find it sacrilegious when they convert a split window...goodness, anything older than a 67 is simply wrong. by any chance, does the guy to whom you refer have a number up on his business sign, or even the name of his business would be really helpful. thanks again.

No number or business sign.. Typically Thai.. I've met the fella a few times he's a bit enthusiastic but an okay guy. His English is good too.

Easy to spot his place.. Just head up the new Pattaya bypass road that runs parallel with Sukhumvit.. His place is on the left between the Pattaya railway station and Soi Siam Country Club ( If you were heading South towards SSCC) There is an open field with a couple of sheds and half a dozen VW's in various stages of assembly/decomposition..
