August 31, 200520 yr 5 year old boy sucked into cement mixer in tragic industrial accident. A terrible accident now which left a 5 year old boy dead. Police were called to the Poom Jan Cement Factory in Nong Pla Lai sub-district after the owner of the business reported the accident to Police. At the scene, officers checked the badly mutilated body of Deckchai Sarayoot. It appeared that he was allowed to play near the cement mixing machine, unsupervised. He them climbed onto the machine and remained on the conveyor belt which led to the cement mixer. The boy then fell into the mixer and was killed. The company has accepted partial responsibility for the accident and has agreed to pay compensation to the boy’s family. Police have also blamed the boy’s parents who allowed the boy to play near the machine without any form of supervision. We understand that Police will not initiate criminal proceedings against the company or the parents and have recorded the incident as an accident. -Pattaya City News Wednesday 31st August 2005 This sort of thing pisses me off - what a waste and for what? Parents should be minding their lil ones.

Parents should be minding their lil ones. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Brit - doesn't just happen to kids - although this one should obviously not have happened if anyone had taken just a little care - but has happened on a site I was working on. A one cube metre vertical mixer broke down. The guy in charge disconnected the power, went up the conveyor check on the stoppage. One of his crew came on the scene (a Thai, but that is incidental) saw the equipment was disconnected and re-connected. Connie Lundahl lost a leg.
