Heard many rumors about Carlsberg Beer. One beeing that they were kicked out of Thailand and one being that the local brewey did not make their beer according to specs.

A huge market to pull out from if so, isn't it? :o:D

I didn't really drink it in Thailand anyway, so it was no loss to me..

I believe it was a row over licencing, and Carlsberg lost

I drive past the Carlsberg brewery on Paholyothin Rd. on my way to work and back everyday (near eastern ring road junction) and found the other day that the sign board at the brewery no longer bears the name Carlsberg but replaced by local Thai beer (forgot which one though).

Remember they ( Carslberg) started in brown bottles? Great after years of Singha and skunky old Kloster. Then they started the COOL ! promotion with the green bottle. I even stopped drinking it after that. :D The draft was tasty at John Bull Pub yrs ago. Kick your butt too! :D Old Amarit at Patpong 18 Baht draft, remember? :o

Hope to see more new beers in the LOS. I had to drink Singha for 10yrs when living in Udon and remote northen Bangkok and my taste buds got burnt out. Thanks for the beer revolution with Amarit NB, Carlsberg,Chang, Heinekin, etc... :D:D More would be great!

I heard the the row was over the Thais not paying royalties to Carlsberg? - sounds about right. Used to always be my first choice of beer over here, although it regularly goes off. Started drinking Kloster after it went but 15 Tigers tastes better than 15 Klosters. It's all <deleted> anyway...you can't beat a decent ale or Guinness, non-Malay.

Totser,

Nothing wrong with, Chang, Leo, Singha or what ever. Myself only go for Chang, with love and " respect" you never know where you'll end up :D

Thumbs up for Chang, but Mr. Carl, is missing... :D

I can't understand why anyone would like to drink Carlsberg/Heineken in Thailand when you can drink Leo or Chang instead..  :o

Heineken is the pits - piss water and gut-wrenching <deleted>, but Carlsberg ain't bad. Chang's ok for a few bottles but gets a bit unpalatable and mind-altering after that imo much like the ole Sang Som.

I mainly drink Tiger as it seems more stable than others, had some really foul tasting Heineken's,but I don't see how you can call Heineken piss water, at 5% its stronger than most US,UK beers.

Tiger is very popular around Pattaya if you look around at what people are drinking.

Draught Heinie is nice, specially at B45 in a lot of places(exception Killkenneys Walking Street B95 for a small one)

Tots is taking the p#ss (not uncommon :D ) but the row must have been a big one, has anyone ever noticed on Thai TV if there is a Carlsberg ad on any horading around the stadia it is blanked out? Its a complete waste of time because you know what it is because you look more closely :D

Crazy!! Must be a Directors nitemare everytime the camera goes near it, dont know why they dont pay the players to keep away from the green and white signs!

Yeah, I'll rephrase that. I wasn't trying to suggest that it was weak; what I meant was that it tastes like bottled water that somebody has pissed in :D - not that I know entirely what water with piss in it tastes like.:D:o:D
