Mr. Jatuporn deserves a muzzle.

He deserves to be in jail with the rest of the red leaders.

As long as he is free he will just keep making trouble for the country.

Last time there was a point to a coup with an overstaying caretaker PM who had skimmed off billions and didnt look like holding elections any time soon.

Now but for a few thousand noisey loonies the country is quite stable and has a functioning Govt.

What reason could there be for a coup unless another looney really wants to take over for their own benefit..

Hi Robby nz

Just a little inaccurate -- the coup was staged less than one month prior to scheduled national elections.

Yet, still more than the 6 months after the previous election, past the cut off required by the constitution.

Mmmm 5 Korat MPs including at least one heavyweight switch to BJT. Even less chance of a coup as Isaan MPs switch sides.

What an interesting little slip you've highlighted there, WB. Indeed, it would suggest that an authority does exist that can invest someone with the stature to spearhead a coup. Hmmm. Could it be that massive white elephant we can all see in the room?

I don't think you can say someone has the authority to invest coup master.

Through the process to remove Thief Thaki the self elected coup masters saw the wrong, decided to realign the wayward democratic process, put together the plan and then sought approval or a blessing for the right to implement the plan. As I recall at the time the approval or blessing was given on the promise that no Thai citizens were hurt.

What has become apparent since General Anupong is that the modern Army leadership is becoming more, more ....hell I don't know perhaps the word I seek is more 'democratic' in their coup making decisions.

With Reds and now PAD, may be military government is exactly what is needed to to sort everything out and bring country to peace.

If and i say if PAD manages to topple the government, it leaves 2 choices

1. PAD backed government(possible lunatics who could make war with Cambodia)

2. Reds, ie Thaksin backed government(more corruption)

As sad as it sounds, it may well be the only peaceful way out

Do you really think a coup will stop the protests?

The yellows are protesting because of a perceived loss of Thai land. The reds are protesting because of various things related to Thaksin not being in power, including the last coup.

If there is a coup now, neither of these things have changed. So the protests won't stop.

There is absolutely no reason for a coup now. The current government has the support of the army. The current government is not doing anything that is a threat to the country or the army. The current government has the general support of the country (as shown by the lack of people at both protests).

What would the benefit of a coup be to the army, given that all they will do is organise new elections soon after anyway.

Lack of people at both protests.....?

Were you sleeping.... or were you sleep walking.... around PuttTaYar....? :D

If you have some leisure time.... just drop over and surprise yourself.... B) Cheers

Still very quiet around Government House. Maybe I walk over this morning to have a look. On a Saturday nothing else to do anyway. I may even get a yellow-shirt from my cupboard, an original from about four years ago :)

Yes. Lack of people.

I'm sorry, but out of 65 million, less than 5,000 is nothing.

Wonder out loud....

Did you learn to count with your ten fingers first....?

Or did you learn to count with your toes first.... like myself ....? ;)

I could also count in Arabic too.... but only up to 5,000 :(....

Whichever method I used.... it always comes to the same conclusion that you forgot your zero.... some how.... some where.... :burp:

Weelll, if you could only count to 5,000 and nothing beyond.... then.... who is to say.... you are categorically incorrect .... :drunk:
