Best (Cheap Flight Option) City To Head To For Visa And Where Do You Shop For Tickets?

Featured Replies

Hi. I asked this question before but was asking about countries.

I'm flying out of Chiang Mai to some cheap place where I can get a 60-day visa.

Is Kuala Lumpur my best city to head to? Looking at travel sites, it looks like the best price I can expect for a round trip is $300+

Are there cheaper cities with a consulate I can get a visa at?

What are the best sites to look for cheap asian airfares?

Thanks.

You can fly as of February 1 Nok Air Chiang Mai to Udon for about 5400 baht return and then a short taxi ride to the Lao boarder. Double entry tourist visas are still free until 31 March. This would give you 6 months.

But what city would I need to get to once I"m over the border? You say take a taxi to the border, but wouldn't I need to find a consulate in some city on the other side?

Also, I thought you had to fly over a border in order to get more than a 15-day visa - no?

You would get to the border and only a short taxi ride from the border you would be in Vientiane which is the capital city of Laos. There you could go to the Thai embassy / consulate and apply for a free double entry tourist visa.

you should be able to get a round-trip to either KUL or SIN on AirAsia for not more than 150$ if u r smart and book when promotions are running.

Air Bagan is flying to Yangon as well a few times a week (though using them means u would support the airline's owner TAY ZA, who is exploiting the country and its people as a business-tycoon as he is the son-in-law of Dictator SHWE)

Can you exchange money at the border? I'll only have thai baht on hand when I get there, but will need to pay for a taxi to Vientiane.

Baht is accepted in Laos so have never seen a report of that being an issue.
