Anyone had experience with presenting a new passport for a flight with Air Asia, where the number differs to the passport used for the original on-line booking.

I've had a couple of different rules explained to me by their Customer Service, have complied by sending them a scan of the new passport front page, but am not sure if their replies tick all the boxes.

It's hard getting a decent or reliable confirmation from them.

Yes, I know, Budget-Budget-Budget, but have had a good run with them over the last five years or so.

Just don't want any surprises at the airport!

Thanks "Thailand" that to me is what should be the case and I would imagine is the case with a number of airlines.

However with these matters and dealing with the "budgets" one cannot be too careful.

Their Customer Service telephone advice was that I MUST email send them 'in advance', a scan of the new passport front page, which I did, but as said above, it's very hard getting a response from them that this has been carried through and applied to four bookings I have with them!

I've got no issues with Air Asia as it is and what you get, but on this type of matter I would not appreciate a problem at the airports concerned on the day.

No problem.

I have previously booked for other people not having their passport details and simply used any figures/info that was accepted by Air Asia's interface. The only criteria when checking in is that your current travel document is up to date and includes any visa's that may be required for some countries and of course your reentry in to Thailand if traveling overseas.

Display your reservation record(s) using the Manage My Booking function on AirAsia's website, select 'Modify' for the booking in question, change the passport details as desired for each passenger.

Thanks 'ovenman'

That actually works, they had changed the details in the bookings, but were having difficulty confirming to me that they had!

Another friend just told me that he leaves the Passport Number field blank incase of a change of passport!

I haven't done a booking for quite a few months but I thought it was a required field in the booking?
