Ok I am currently on an extension of stay from a previous NON O Visa. I do not want to be bothered with all the crap that I had to go through last time to get my extension of stay plus I will not be staying in Thailand for another year as my wife and I are relocating back to Canada. With this in mind I am keeping as little Baht in the bank as possible have been moving it to my Hong Kong HSBC account on a regular basis makes moving a large sum to my Canadian HSBC account a lot easier when the time comes, what with the Thai's and their money control policies. Simply put I try very hard to NOT keep 400k baht in my bank account, usually keep just above 100k as someone told me that was the level needed when getting a NON O from KL.

So my plan at this point is as follows, my current Extension runs out on March 24th. We have booked four nights at the SUNWAY RESORT HOTEL in KL from March 14th to March 18th. While there I would like to go apply for a new Non O. I am told it is quite straight forward there needing only to show my Passport, filled out application, any fees, marriage certificate, copy of wife's ID card and letter from her, but as she will be with me likely not needed. We land on the 14th, will hit the Embassy early morning on the 15th and I should have my NON O on the afternoon of the 16th if all goes well or the 17th at latest.

Is this all logical and possible or have I been led down the garden path to believe this would work as planned?

Also curious if the Embassy is indeed a mere 20 minutes by Taxi from the Resort?

Thanks to anyone that can offer any help on the above plan.

Everything seems fine , except ADD a copy of wifes tabien bahn, signed by her, and dont forget your photos to add to your list and bank book showing 100k money in the bank. Other than that you should be all set.

One other thing, get there early as there are often queues at the Thai Embassy,

Enjoy your trip,:)

As far as i can remember, the RTE in KL will not process a new Visa for you if you still have a valid (current) Visa/Extension of Stay for Thailand at the time of your application

Yes i agree, the OP is not stating if he's currently having a multi or a single entry permit on his passport, which might made his trip to Malaysia useless, so, Bkkcanuck, what have you got in your passport at the moment?

Also, in KL just a 500$ US(bank draft) seems to be enough to get the Non Imm O, so even without the required 100K, i wrote recently an extensive trip report about it :)

The OP states that he is on an extension of stay.

So he might still have a re-entry permit stamp next to it too?

$500 was enough for a single entry or a multiple entry?

Multiple entry
