Hi there

I am a Thai who got married with a European man. We have lived together in his country for 3 years but now we would like to move back to live in Thailand, my country.

My husband is trying to get a job here but the problem is most of employer doesn't want to apply work permit for him.

So, my questions are...

1. What type of VISA that my husband should apply to live and also work here?

2. What are documents or financial statement that we have to prepare for applying this VISA?

3. How's residence permit?

Thank a lot in advance,

He can apply for a multiple non-O visa based on his marriage to a Thai national. Normally in Europe that only requires a copy of the wedding certificate, but always check with the embassy or consulate what they exactly will want.

On this visa he can apply for a work permit, once he has found work. His visa is valid for 1 year, and during that year he can travel to Thailand unlimited times, but each time not staying longer than 90 days. Than he has to leave but can come back right back the same hour for another 90 days. By leaving and re-entering just before the visa expires he can get almost 15 months out of it.

He can apply for a 1 year extension of stay based on his marriage if he can show 40,000 a month income or 400,000 baht in an account in his name in a bank in Thailand.

Mario,

Thanks for your kindly help! I still have more question

My husband is 43 years old. Can he apply for non-O visa? I thought this type is for people who is 50 years old up.

From your reply, I don't know do I understand correctly? ----> When he has non-O visa on hand and then he got a job, he can apply work permit by himself.

He can apply for a Multi Entry Non Imm O Visa because he has a Thai Wife.

He can work with a Non Imm O Visa providing he gets a Work Permit.

Lite beer,

Thank you so much for your prompt reply. This website is very useful!

The thing is, when he has his non-O visa he still needs a company that wants to hire him to help him get the work permit. Some companies pay for this and others do not. It is only around 3,500 baht so not to bad if he has to pay. It is a big bonus for a company that he already would have this visa. It saves them a lot of time and paper-work for them to apply for him.

What kind of work is he planning on doing if you don't mind telling? Most companies are ok with going to the Work Permit office with us to apply for it etc.

He works in IT field. Some companies mention that Applicants must me legally able to work in Thailand without the company having to provide a work permit.

"Thai nationals only" seemed a little too "nationalistic" <_< But with a very few exceptions, it means the same.
