Central Pattaya entertainment area raided by Pattaya Police

PATTAYA: -- As part of Pattaya Police’s continuing city-wide crime suppression operation, officers conducted a total of 15 raids on establishments in the Soi Chayapoom area in Central Pattaya, a popular area consisting of bars and go-go’s frequented by foreign tourists and ex-pats. Prior to the raid, a briefing by Police Colonel Nantawoot took place at Pattaya Police Station and then the officers, who were joined by colleagues from the Narcotics Suppression Bureau, made their way to the area and found that many of the bars they intended to visit had already been closed down as information had already filtered through to bar owners that the raid was taking place.

<deleted> is going on here? Soi Chayapoon consists of a few happy ending massage establishments and some cheap charlie bars. Not aware of any Go Go bars there. Am i missing out on something? As somebody pointed out on the Pattaya one site, what about the Russian establishments? Walking St appears to be a no go area for the BIB. Even though an increasing number are clearly owned and run by Eastern Europeans with Eastern European staff who clearly do not fulfill the work permit requirements. It is blatant corruption. This city is rapidly becoming a byword for everything that is wrong with this country. There is no doubt in my mind that a few years down the line the "decent thais" will pay the price for this handover of their tourist industry to unscrupulous criminals from eastern europe. I notice from reading the Phuket and Koh Samui forums that they are starting to gain a foothold there too. This is being allowed to happen because a relatively few greedy and corrupt, but powerful Thai politicians, at local level mainly, are in a position to let it. Plus the acquiesence of the English language media who, to be frank, are a disgrace. The ongoing jet ski scams are a typical example of this. To be fair there is one honorable exception, "you know who you are Howard". I first came to Pattaya 10 years ago, and with hand on heart i can honestly say that it was a happy, relatively crime free and safe place to come for a fun holiday. But not any more. The last few years have seen an almost cataclysmic decline. Such a shame. I am aware that many of the newish ex pats here will probably give me all sorts of stick for my observations, but i am confident that those who can remember "the good old days", if they are honest, will agree with them. Rant over. PS. Sorry Rimmer, i was out of order before! Wont happen again.

Soi Chayapoon is here; have a walk down if you want.:whistling:

It is an area comprising several Soi Bauckow offshoots, comprising Sois Diana, LK Metro, Lengkee, Chayapoon & Honey. It's generally a quiet, up & coming area frequented by ex-pats & long time sexpats. I can't imagine why this area was specifically targeted.

The Devil's Den on LK Metro has been a frequent target for closure & 'troubles' (previously Hells Club), as they advertise their 'wares' quite explicitely on their website, but otherwise there is nothing special about the gogos, massage parlours & bars in this area.

Maybe my constant complaints to trading standards about the absence of a sausage at Canterbury Tales & the undercooked chips at the Chow Soy have finally paid off (only joking Dave & Dave if you're listening).

I smell a rat & maybe some tea.:ermm:

Time to cultivate some grapes on the vine.

My sauce has just informed me that the 'raid' took place at 9pm on Wed, local time & was concentrated on the Thai Karaoke clubs; piss tests etc.

No falang owned or orientated places were affected. :whistling:

Agree, lived in Pattaya for 7+year's then 6 year's ago moved out I could see the writing on the wall then. Was there two month's ago the pit's seem's to ring a bell. All seemed different except the stench from the drain's, + load's more traffic and fume's. Will I be back, sure if I have a good enough reason. Can't for the love of me think of one at the moment. But might be one in the next decade or two, who know's. Ah just thought of one thing I liked. Bt bus's still load's and cheap. Where's the beach gone?????

The Pattaya One article specifically stated that bar owners they spoke to were angry that only bars frequented by foreign tourists were targeted. Maybe you should change your 'snout'!
