seaeagle Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 Wife heard on the news today that Thailand is (yet again) talking about blocking download torrents. Seem to recall some people having isolated problems with downloads around the country before Christmas. Anyone else heard of this news today, got some more news, or even having download problems?
H2oDunc Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 No mine are merrily downloading very quickly as I type
Supernova Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 A Thai bit torrent tracker was banned yesterday for providing torrents to x-rated material (so they say). Since the news broke, many Thai trackers have suspended their services, at least temporarily. This is the latest I've heard.
Jingthing Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 Problem with demonoid website today, TOT Pattaya.
Jingthing Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 Uh oh!!! Mark your calenders, is this Black Friday? Maybe this has something to do with the more recent country host of demonoid, .me? Meaning Montenegro as in Thaksinegro ... On the other hand, only getting unable to connect messages. No scary government block webpage or anything like that.
Supernova Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 I was on Demonoid briefly this afternoon, since then it has been inaccessible or 'down' according to downforeveryoneorjustme. I'm sure it's unrelated to whatever is going on locally since all the major foreign trackers are up and running.
Crossy Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 Demonoid is not working here in India either, so it looks like a site issue not a Thailand issue. "I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"
Jingthing Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 Good point, torrents obtained from demonoid are working, but the site itself is not happening. Hopefully not a block, but we'll see.
MKAsok Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 It looks like it's being deliberately blocked. VPN off = 404 error; VPN on = working fine.
Supernova Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 Yep, the 'demon' is back online (True, Bangkok)
HeavyDrinker Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 Demonoid OK in BKK too. Must have been maintainance.
paulfr Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 Fine in Ratchaburi. TOT. I had an un usual occurance Began downloading the pilot episode of Hawaii 5 O and it was ripping at 350KB/sec for about 3 minutes and then went off. There were some 15 peers and they all shut off. That sure looks like a block to me. This morning it still had not recovered. Grrrrrrrrrrrrr
lomatopo Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 A Thai bit torrent tracker was banned yesterday for providing torrents to x-rated material (so they say). Since the news broke, many Thai trackers have suspended their services, at least temporarily. This is the latest I've heard. All of the Thai trackers I use are still on-line, up and running. However they have removed all pron (real Thai pron is actually quite funny, just like Lakorn but with sxe). Also no BT issues with TOT, CSLOxinfo or True. Demonoid seems fine, my ratio --> Ratio: 3,164,700,672.00 (Updated once a day)
mdechgan Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 Torrentmove has been inaccessable the past few days. Both the website and the trackers have been down lately. I'm on True
Supernova Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 ^ That's the site I was referring to in my initial post. It seems Torrentmove won't be opening its doors anytime soon, so you might as well find a new tracker.
Supernova Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 All of the Thai trackers I use are still on-line, up and running. That wasn't the case yesterday. Many 'local' trackers were down for a good portion of the day. BTW, Demonoid was also offline for a couple of hours but is now back in business.
Crossy Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 Demonoid has moved domain to demonoid.me registrations are open now "I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"
lomatopo Posted February 13, 2011 Posted February 13, 2011 I followed up a bit on this topic...it seems like the RTP started with street level DVD purveyors, selling pron DVDs then traced it back to offices occupied by torrentmove, initiating the tracker shutdown. So not really any internet/torrent "censorship" issue. Again, all my Thai trackers ae working fine, I did not notice any outages but then I use seedboxes so do not see blips. Appears to be a non-issue.
mdechgan Posted February 13, 2011 Posted February 13, 2011 It just seems to be torrentmove. On the webpage it seems to say something like they are letting their legal team handle the situation.

Do you realise that you are responding in a topic that hasn't seen any new posts for the past 11 years? Things have changed slightly since then. I suggest that you start a new topic as the information contained within this topic is dated.
