Hey,

My partner and I have recently moved to Samui from Surat Thani. He is a very dedicated worker with a passion to learn new things. His English is acceptable but not excellent. We are having difficulty making contacts on Samui. He had his own cleaning business in Surat Thani (Did all the cleaning himself, This is a hard- working man, Thai man with no pretensions.)

The mafia element in Samui is a bit intimidating to him as everyone is always talking about how big so and so is. He would really just like to find work (preferably in the day, not a bar boy at all) that keeps him busy, has a positive astmosphere, and leaves him learning new things. Money is not the main issue.

Any advice would be great, or if anyone knows someone who is looking for a hard worker for any kind of job (man of many talents, and again no pretensions, no job is too small, he understands his lack of university education is a factor). He has worked as a waiter before and really enjoyed that as well.

We do check the Lotus and Big C boards regularly. Sometimes it just never hurts to ask the general populace for advice and help, as I have seen many complaints about it being difficult to find quality staff I am just trying to bridge the gap!!

Thanks in advance.

Thank you for the advice

I will check out these avenues. We have also gone to the Samui Cable station and looked in the help wanted book, and that was useful.

The more contacts we make, the easier it will become.

I thank you again for your tips.

Just wanted to add that the big hotels are pretty intimidating for him. He did try and go in for interviews, but without past hotel experience it was a no go.

It is always an adjustment when you move to a new area, it will just take some time to find a job that works. The past two restaurant jobs have had him working 7 days a week, 10 hour days for around 6,000. I know the standards of labour are different but 7 days a week is not sustainable.

Something will come up. Thanks again.

I've replied private to you BigCan but not sure how this works and if you get that. We are looking for someone that could be just the job you need. Please contact me.
