Broadband Speeds To The Uk

Featured Replies

Hi, on a (slightly) more upbeat note from my last posting, can someone tell me if it's possible to get good Broadband speeds for UK websites? I've just had 3BB install a wired connection because our building's Wifi was so unreliable. Some of the time it meets their 6 Mbps package promise but when I try to access the BBC (with or without a VPN) it virtually comes to a standstill. An IT mate of mine did a ping test and confirmed it's hardly working and has a 30% packet loss. He also says that in Malaysia the government "throttles" international traffic - is that what's happening here? I've come to rely on a daily dose of Newsnight and Radio 5 football commentaries!

Your router/modem is probably placed near to some other electrical device and suffering from electrical interference given out by it, eg. speaker, phone set, table lamp, etc.

Welcome to Thailand Internet.

The bandwidth from Thailand to Europe is poor to say the least. West Coast USA i about 2-3 times faster than the bandwidth you will get to europe.

Give you an example I am on 50mb VDSL2 in BKK bandwidth to Europe is 10mb on a good day bandwidth to US is around 35-42mb.

Not much you can do about it :(
