Hi all. I can't find any other questions quite like mine, so here's yet another thread....

My Non Imm B Visa will end (final 90 day re-entry stamp in April) in July. Instead of returning to the US to apply for a new one then, I'd rather postpone and keep doing my projects here on back to back double entry tourist visas. I have not abused this privilege, and in fact have no other tourist visa stamps in my passport. I do plan to leave in December, but have no proof (ticket onward not purchased yet) of this. Has anybody else had their full, legit visa expire and then successfully applied for the tourist visas in either Vientianne or Singapore and received them without hassle ?

Btw....

I did this once, but way back in '05, so this almost like a new experience again. I'm also wondering what the recent climate is like in the embassies for my situation.

Thanks in advance !

You should get a double entry tourist visa without any problems in Vientianne. But would check back when the time is near to see if there are any changes.

Working would be of course illegal without a work permit.

There should be no problems with any of the Embassies/Consulates as you are not showing any previous TR's - Vietianne seems the most flexible at momeny

And remember if you are 50 years you can have that Non B changed to a Non O retirement visa without leaving the country, with a letter from your embassy showing 65,000 Bhat per month, equivalent coming into an account somewhere.

There is no way to change a non immigrant B visa to an O visa. He could extend his stay for reason of retirement but no change of visa would be required. But do not believe he said anything about wanting to do this or that he was over age 50. What was of concern was his mention of projects here which sounds like a work permit might be required - and that would not be available on either a tourist visa or a retirement extension of stay.

Hi Lopburi. I left it vague as I'm up to my own research project here for a book - it's stuff I do all by myself and that would not be qualified as 'work.' I look at my request for 2 x dbl entry tourist visas as asking permission to stay here and just do my own thing, off the grid, and look around.

And I wish I were old enough and with retirement money to have all that settled for the rest of my days. But for now I will have to settle with youth, and must find my own ways of supporting myself and.

Have not seen any reports that you would not. There has not been any reporting other than count of previous tourist visa entries in that regard.

I might be a bit late with this post, but i was in the same situation 2 months ago, when a long (near 5 years) employment finished prior to a new contract starting. I duly trotted off to vientiene but was refused based on a long history of 1 year (BOI) non B visas, the front desk staff citing this as reason to doubt I was a genuine tourist and would only furnish me with a single entry, and that with the strong impression that any more would be a hard to come by. Am just about to go and get a 30 day extension on this (hopefully!) so will report if bangkok immigration is as picky.

Other than the 1 year non-Bs I had a few visa exempt stamps and 1 tourist visa all from more than 5 years ago in the passport and that was all..

Hope you have better luck!
