Long Shot but here goes,

last night a neighbor of mine had a breakin here in Plailam

Lots of cash, computers, cameras, jewelery, passports etc etc basically cleaned out.

They broke in via the back door using want looks like a screwdriver

Now here is what was left as evidence

while prying open the door the person wearing the false fingernails in the attached photo put his/her fingers in to pull open the door which entail broke off the fingernails

Have a good look, I'm sure who ever wore these nails liked to show them off.

I also don't think many shops on the island sell this style

Maybe someone has seen these for sale or someone wearing them

Firstly sorry to hear about your friends break in. not nice at any time.

Has he had any " cough, cough " :whistling: visitors round to visit lately of an evening ? I know times are a bit quiet but ladies resorting to burglary seems a bit odd. katoey maybe ? :shock1:

Has your friend offered a donation to the police for recovered items etc ? It always helps with the investigation.

The other thing is who the hell leaves a " lots of cash " lying about the house when out ? :o:sorry:

Dunc,

From what I know, these people were to fly out of samui this morning so bags were packed passports and tickets ready money not spent put aside to bring home and they went out for the night.

On return from their night out the found the house had been broken into.

I went through the CCTV around my house to see if I could catch someone walking passed but looks like they came over the back wall

I also think it was a Katoey

Bummer ! As they are gone from Samui then the chances of recovering anything is almost non existent. Whenever I travel I never leave any cash or even my computer in the hotel room. it always goes with me to eat or drink. Lets hope they had good insurance for their holiday or visit ?

Plailam is a hotspot for house breakins, a friend of mine was robbed 3 times, twice whilst he was sleeping, they even took a mobile phone from next to his bed.

he has now moved house.

Things must have changed since I lived there. I often went out leaving the door open, the key in the motorbike, laptop hung off the bike etc and never had a problem. :o

That comment is leading me to think that last week was infact your 150th birthday!!! Burlaries here have been rife for as long as i can remember. I'd say between 60%/70% of my friends have had their houses broken into. What do you expect when the criminal elements know that nothing will be done to follow it up. :whistling:

I have edited to say that i really don't want to sound so negative but what else is there to say, it is the way it is.

BigC, you are correct.

Last week I had some work done on my house and the thai guys that came to do the job had to get into the ceiling void, the only way to do this was to remove an extract fan which measured 12x12 inch at a max and with about 18 inches above.

I though I was seeing things when I saw this one guy managed to get thought this opening like a snake without as much as touching the sides

before I left my small toilet window open ( NOT anymore )

Sorry to hear about your friend's problem. At least they are OK.

Were any other houses/apartments or whatever in in the area hit?

Seems too much of a coincidene to me that your friends were all packed up and ready to go - then they got burgled.

Maybe someone knew that they were leaving and guessed (correctly) an easy score. Everything in one place and people out celebrating their last night. Still - not nice.

So true, 5 years ago when I worked there in real estate it was common for places to be burraled on a weekly basis, especially if they were empty......alarms, dogs, high walls, barbed wire had no effect whatsoever.....the burglarers would get in any way, through windows, doors and even the roof.........just a note that here in Cha am a policemans house was burgled the other day...an uncommon occurance for anyones house here but a policemans!!!
