THE FISHERIES DEPARTMENT HAS LAUNCHED THE SEA FOOD BANK PROJECT

The Fisheries Department has launched the Sea Food Bank project in an effort to solve poverty problems and improve sea food safety.

The Provincial Governor of Nakhon Si Thammarat, Mr. WICHOM THONGSONG (วิชม ทองสงค์), has disclosed that the province will hold the Sea Food Bank for Thai Fishermen fair on Saturday 10th, from 10:00-17:30 hrs at the Twin Lotus Hotel.

The event will be hosted by the Fisheries Department with the aim of providing more knowledge for fishermen and the general public in the southern region, to help boost the fishing industry.

Following government’s policy to turn assets into capital, the Fisheries Department has been providing several locations for poor people to take up seafood farming.

At the same time, people who join the Sea Food Bank project will be offered careers in fisheries businesses, according to Mr. WICHOM.
