Its A Thai'S Jobs Market

Featured Replies

Being a employer, with things the way they are right now, thai's are spoiled for choice of jobs, can quit your job today and within the hour have another job. No matter what you try and even with increased salaries put through again, must be nice to be a luxury 5 star hotel able to pay salaries plus 10,000 plus for service charge, so if your the small business man or woman be aware that over 30 hotels right now need staff in all positions and since another 5 hotels are going to be opened this year expect more labor shortages on the island.

Isnt the logic the same the world over....pay a decent wage/benefits and respect your employees and you will attract the best.......if you wanna pay peanuts you get monkeys, so for a genuine employer it wont be a problem recruiting but someone that wants a 24/7 on call slave might find it hard...simples really

I find it amazing that any Thais are willing to work in the tourist sector on Samui. Working for 12 or more hours a day, with maybe a day or two off a month (after that first month of working with NO days off) for 6,000-7,000 baht a month -- can anyone blame them for not taking any of it seriously? Particularly when they see the massage and bargirls making that in a week for doing next to nothing.

I was just speaking to a secretary in Bangkok who makes 22,000 a month. The salaries here are laughable (unless you are being paid them).

You have to remember that Samui is a big amusement park, and ride operators don't make much money, so it's understandable that employers lowball most of their workers.

On a related note, I'd like to challenge any foreigner to live one month on 6,000 baht a month. Spot yourself 1,000 as savings.

Wanna hear a joke? "Time and a half!"

Here's another: "Overtime!"

Good, eh?
