Hi guys,

I have a 12 month Non immigration O. I have been in country for 6 months and now have to leave and do a visa run. Does anyone know if its possible to get a 30 day extension in bangkok as I dont have the time to do a visa run and will actually be leaving Thailand in a month anyway.

I have called immigration but got passed to 3 different people who all sounded as confused as each other. I will go down there tommorrow to ask in person but wanted to know if anyone has an answer here.

cheers,

R

If you have not departed the country expect you are overstay to the tune of three months by now as such a visa entry is only 90 days. Perhaps that is adding to the confusion. If that is the case you should have 20,000 baht with you for the fine and a ticket out of the country.

As to a 30 day extension that is not possible. That can only be obtained for stays of less than 90 days (tourist visas).

Thai Police Order No. 777/2551 lists many reasons for the extension of stay after entering Thailand with a non-immigrant visa. See if you qualify for any of those reasons.

You will not get an extension. If your multiple-entry non-O visa is still valid for travel to Thailand you will get a new arrival stamp granting you permission to stay for 90 days.

sorry one last question. if i do a cambodia border run will i get a 3 months extension or just a few weeks ?

If your visa is multiple entry and still valid then you will get 90 days.

It's best to do a run before your visa expires as you will get 90 days from the date you did the run, technically just under 15 months total.
