Fire Recycling Plant Fire Destroys Vehicles & Equipment
Pictures courtesy of Khaosod. A fire tore through a recycling plant in Bang Lamung district, Chonburi, on the morning of 18 August, destroying vehicles and machinery worth more than three million baht. The blaze broke out at the Banjong Recycling Plant on Soi Nawong 7, Takhiantia Subdistrict, at around 09:00. Fire crews from Takhiantia, Bang Lamung and Nong Prue municipalities, along with disaster prevention units, battled the flames for over an hour before bringing them under control. The fire consumed an area of more than one rai, reducing much of the facility to charred debris. Among the assets destroyed were five pickup trucks, one motorcycle, an electric motorbike, a forklift, fuel containers and wooden pallets. The plant’s owner, Mr. Banjong Chabunmee, 65, broke down in tears as he watched the destruction of his business. His son, Mr. Arthit Chabunmee, 45, told reporters the fire appeared to have been caused by an electrical wiring short circuit that ignited a pile of fabric before spreading rapidly throughout the warehouse. Police are to conduct a full investigation, with forensic experts expected to carry out a detailed inspection to identify the cause of the fire. Adapted by Asean Now from SiamNews 2025-08-19 -
