I could not find the answer in the forums. I was wondering if my Thai wife could go to Vientiane, Laos to get a visa to America. We are making plans to fly to America in April. If she cannot not then the we will go to Bangkok to get the visa. We live in Mahasarakham and Laos is closer. I also know that I will need a return stamp on my non-b visa so it wont expire and still be good for 1 year. Otherwise my work will go crazy haha. Thanks

The visa application and format would not be favorable for your wife if done in Vientiane Lao. Why not do it at the US Consulate in Chiang Mia which is a lot less hassle than Bangkok.

Thank you gotlost. Looks like we are going to Bangkok. She has family there and it's the closest one :-( 11 hour bus ride... she doesn't want to do it hahaha.

I'm not sure what the OP meant by a "a return stamp on my non-b visa so it wont expire and still be good for 1 year". If he is not on a year extension and is making 90 day border runs, then it will be difficult for him to prove his ties to Thailand, an important, if not the most important, evidence of his wife’s return to Thailand. If he is referring to an entry permit on the extended permission to stay stamp then that is ok. When applying he needs to be sure include documents that shows he lives in Thailand, has job or business, if it is a job, then get a letter from employer saying you have a job and are just going on vacation to the US. Also include marriage certificate, joint banks accounts, house lease, etc.

To get a US tourist visa in another country, the person must show residency in that country so the OP's wife will have to do it in Thailand.

Don't take this lightly, you must go about it seriously and be sure to understand what the consulate is looking for as proof of intent to return.

Yes I have work here in Thailand and we planned to go on a vacation to America. We decided not to go after all because she will not get her visa in time. Thanks for the responses everyone.
