Where In Porntip Plaza?

I need to get a new battery for my HP Pavilion Notebook. Specs:

6-cell, Li-Ion, 4.4-ampere-hour HP Part number # 346886-001

It's not the newest model and unlikely to be available in any of the large stores.

After a highly unrewarding day spent on the phone with HP and various dealers they referred me to I am bracing myself to attempt Porntip Plaza...I say bracing bvcause I am not a computer geek (no offense intended ) and to me, the place is a bewildering morass.

Any advice on where in there I should look?

For that matter, dos anyone know if it is possible to recharge a dead laptop battery (thoroughly dead)?

thanks

Regarding the map above: Skytrain station Ratchatevi, take exit 2. Walk 3 minutes and turn right at the intersection; another 10-15 minutes to get there.

If it's impossible to find a new battery in that builing, find Newton computers (Apple distributor) on the 3rd floor, room 319. Tel: 02 255 6754. Ask for Mr. Moon. He knows people in Panthip who are able to open old batteries and replace the stuff inside... He has done it on one of his old laptops.

Think about going to Fortune Town (rather than Pantip), less hassle from touts. Subway stop at Phra Ram 9.

You MAY score by having a run out to Zeer Rangsit, it's well out of town, take the train to Rangsit and get a taxi to Zeer Rangsit or the Asia Airport Hotel.

This place is aimed at more serious computer users (no hassle for 'dirty movies' etc). There are lots of places selling / repairing laptops, if you dont succeed at Pantip or Fortune Town.

I went to Panthip to find a battery for my ASUS notebook, but it wasn't available. Of course, this might be because ASUS is not a very well-known notebook brand (I'd recommend it over any of the other brands I've tried though).

After an hour of asking around, I was directed to ASUS's Bangkok office high up in some nondescript highrise on Thanon Langsuan, where I managed to buy a battery.

HP are quite common notebooks though, so just ask around in Panthip in stores that sell notebooks. Sooner or later you'll score.

Thanks! I'll try Zeer first as it's closer.

I know where Pantip was, it's once inside there that I become lost...."Porntip"was a freudian slip, tells you what I think of the place....

If all else fails in getting something "locally", then another option might be buying it on line at HP battery.

You will need a credit card. The battery cost is $56 and free shipping within the USA. I needed a battery for my Presario 2100 and ordered it on line, had it shipped to a friend's house who was visiting the USA, and returning to Thailand. He "hand carried" the battery back to me. Just a thought. :o
