Rescue teams to Japan have been postponed

BANGKOK, MARCH 13 2011 (NNT)- The Secretary to the Foreign Minister, Chawanon Intarakomalyasut has been informed by Japan to postpone the rescue teams to Japan, since Japanese Authorities want to sort out problems in their country first. However, what Japan needs the most now is the warm blanket.

As for the financial aid to Japan which was previously limited to five million baht, the Cabinet will have further discussions before concluding the final amount.

Furthermore, according to the inspection, there have been no reports on injured or death of Thai people in Japan. However, they cannot gather all information, due to communication difficulties, so they are unable to identify clearly. But according to enquiry, there are no deaths or injured Thai found yet.

However, on the part of workers and students, the minister of labor has confirmed safety among students and workers one hundred percent, adding that the students are safe to travel back to country because the airlines are still operating. In case of emergency, the Thai Embassy in Tokyo is ready to take care of Thai people around the clock.

Sure,

they don't have the time for nurse-maiding the Thai team around

and finding something for them to do, and no expectation they will be

self starting and speak good japanese.

A ringing endorsement.

The proposal was to send personnel and dogs. Wonder if the Japanese are accepting the dogs and rejecting the personnel?

Certainly! What experience Thais have with Meltdowns or Nuclear energy? Add to that the likelihood of not being fluent in English.

The Japanese did the right thing.

Oh well thank Bhudda no Thai has been hurt! We wouldn't want that now would we? The 1000s of Japanese that died? That's ok because they almost like farang and not count because we only want their money - so long as there are no Thais die then mai per rai! Sanook sanook!

The dogs are a hell of a lot smarter and don't sleep as much!

And most likely eat less...

And most certainly drink less !

This countries comments and actions regarding this disaster are so telling , when the Japanese get back on their feet and things return to normalcy as much it can, lets hope they remember Thailand's contribution.

The Japanese have had close ties with this country over the years now it has been shown as a one way soi.

Skipping all the Thai bashing; there are a lot of western aid groups that are also on standby. A coordinated and planned arrival of aid, and determining exactly what is needed, is important. Too many relief workers arriving when they cannot yet be used can create more havoc than it relieves.

An example I saw explained, stated they needed to get all the aid groups with heavy equipment into the country first to clear transport routes and allow access to blocked areas so that other aid could be transported and moved to where it is needed. It is no use having hundreds of personnel waiting around because their services cannot be used under the exisiting conditions.

Just to keep one step ahead of some members of TV, and perhaps not ruffle anyone's feathers, this appears to be praise for dogs and not Thai bashing as the mutts are Thai also.

What an amazing run of ignorant posts......clearly the areas of greatest devastation are in the vicinity of the nuclear emergency.........

Japan not wishing to put overseas volunteers at risk is easy to understand.......except to those who appear to wish to rubbish the brave Thai volunteers..........

You should be ashamed of your comments...........

Surely before they go in with the heavy equipment. They need medical teams + supplies, warm clothing and teams with sophisticated heat seeking devices.

What ever I wish them the best.

In fact Germany, Switzerland,Singapore, and China rescue/search teams arrived early this morning, the US group was scheduled to land early this afternoon.

With the groups there and further experienced groups pledged and accepted, the Japanese are astute enough to pick and chose from their knowledge and the international reputation that follows this decided people/groups.

Who said "disasters bring out the best in/of people"?

No one is saying anything about Japan, but rather the ignorant posters here like 'so long no Thai die sanook sanook' 'they take the dogs but not the thais', 'the dogs are smarter and sleep less'

i hate to be the one to tell you, but Thailand, the government is doing an excellent job by itself even without TV posters help in being ignorant by wanting to give ONLY $160 000 .Yes of course they will still have the meeting and blah blah and possibly up it to $200 000- still a ridiculous joke. When Thailand was hit by Tsunami, countries were giving millions of dollars not 100-200K,

Shameful-plain and simple.

You may wish to consider the fact that the US and UK teams flew out only yesterday, so maybe the Japanese are now more comfortable about allowing the teams in. Do not forget circumstances change on an hourly basis in these situations, Maybe the Japanese were waiting for some of their search and resue teams to return from NZ to oversee the foreign search teams and assist with the language difficulties, we shall see if the Thai team are mobilised in the next few days.........

I don't understand why there is bashing in this thread since the Thai personal involved here is not normal Somchai, these are professionals.

A German team had their aircraft turned around last night to return to standby after the nuclear plant blew up. The wise thing to do.

" However, what Japan needs the most now is the warm blanket."

I saw the warm blanket already there being used by someone in a shelter. Glad they got what they needed most.

Sorry about writing so boldly.

I have it on good authority that the Japanese were initially OK with the Thai teams going out there...

.. until they asked for assistance in getting their Poktektung pick up trucks out there...

This continual Thai bashing needs to stop.

It's not funny or smart, and the continual abuse of Thailand and Thai people on this forum is enough to get this site banned from Thai servers, so even if you can't bring yourselves to stop for the sake of the many Thai people who are upset about the continual abuse they get here, then stop for the sake of ThaiVisa, or risk it being blacklisted on Thai servers.

  • Their PM just said on BBC(I am paraphrasing here) they have redeived offers from over 50 countries and the U.S. troops(38,000) stationed there have been assisting from the outset of the worst crisis since WW2. Logistics are a huge problem., as well as the isolated areas devastated and the current efforts to get aid there.. Diplomatically it will be interesting to see if China offers aid and what Japan's response is.

I thought the threatened blacklist was a fact for a few minutes as I could not post a reply. It was only the Rhai CM server having their weekend service outage. (3bb) take 3 deep breaths (you know who you are)

I know it has been said before, but so many of the posters on this forum seem to really detest the people, culture and country of Thailand, I really wonder why they bother being members of TV!

Thailand has offered to help Japan, the Japanese have said thank you, not just now, we'll call if we need you. Seems to me that reflects well on Japan and Thailand.
